Battlefield 6 Season 2 is bringing back beloved mode missing since BF1

Battlefield 6’s second season starts February 17th, adding fresh maps, weapons, and game modes—including a returning mode last featured in Battlefield 1.

I’m really excited for ‘Operation Augur’ coming later this season! It’s taking inspiration from the Operations mode in Battlefield 1, which was awesome. Basically, we’ll be battling it out on the new maps – Contaminated and Hagental Base – and the attacking team needs to push through and capture both of them to win. It sounds like a really cool, large-scale game mode!

The first map, Contaminated, will emphasize large battles involving tanks and helicopters. Hagental Base, on the other hand, will be designed for intense, close-up fighting with infantry.

Operations, a mode last featured in Battlefield 1 (2016), is a multi-map version of Breakthrough. Attackers advance through a series of connected maps, progressing if they capture each one. The mode ends when the attackers either conquer all maps or are stopped by the defenders.

It quickly became a popular favorite, and many consider it one of the best parts of the game. Its mix of fast-paced action, strategic gameplay, engaging story, and varied maps made each playthrough feel fresh and different.

Battlefield V introduced Grand Operations, a large-scale mode similar to one in Battlefield 1, but it unfolded over several days, each with a unique gameplay style. Interestingly, this mode wasn’t included in Battlefield 2042, despite the presence of the Breakthrough mode.

Season 2’s next update arrives on April 14th, adding the Long-Term Mission (LTM), improvements to Portals, the LTV vehicle, and a machete. It’s currently unknown if the LTM will become a permanent game mode.

You can find a complete plan for Battlefield 6 Season 2, which shows all the new weapons, game modes, and vehicles DICE is adding over the next three months.
