Culdcept The First will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam) starting July 30th, as revealed in the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase.
Culdcept The First, originally released in Japan for Sega Saturn in 1997, is coming to modern consoles and Steam this July with an English version. Clear River Games is managing the console release in the West, though it’s not yet confirmed if this includes the physical edition. CityConnection is responsible for the game on Steam and in Japan. You can watch the announcement trailer and see more details and screenshots on the game’s Steam page.
The Culdcept series is beloved by players around the globe, and now the very first game is back with improvements and added features for a better experience.
Build your deck from over 300 types of cards and witness the dawn of a new battle among Cepter.
The “Book” of the Gods moves the world.
Long ago, on the continent of Bablashca, people thrived. They were the last creation of Culdra, the most powerful god, who centuries earlier had battled Baltias, a neutral deity.
I remember when everything changed. These ancient stone tablets started turning up all over the place, and it turned out they were pieces of this legendary book called “Culdcept” – supposedly it could create or destroy the world! It was total chaos when people realized what they’d found.
I’ve always been fascinated by the legend of Culdcept – it says whoever controls it gets unbelievable power! That’s why these groups, the Cepters, started battling each other, desperately trying to collect all the lost pieces.
As the ravages of war spread, a lone youth finally rises and sets out on a long, epic journey.
A Battle of Offense and Defense for Territory
Players take on the role of “Cepters” and battle using a personalized 50-card deck, known as a “Book.”
Travel around the game board by rolling the dice. When you land on a space, you can play a card to summon a creature, claiming that space as your territory.
Spell Cards let you change dice results, help your creatures, or hinder your opponents.
The first player to gather enough Magic Power and return to the starting Castle wins the game.
Once a match is over, you’ll get a new, random selection of cards depending on how well you performed. Add these cards to your collection and use them to improve your strategy for the next fight.
Incandescent Battles Featuring 180 Types of Creatures
If you enter another player’s area, you’ll need to pay a fee using Magic Power. But, if you summon a creature and defeat them in battle, you can take control of that area for yourself.
Winning a fight depends on more than just a creature’s strength and powers. Item cards and help from the environment or teammates also play a crucial role.
Seize territories and increase your Magic Power to gain the upper hand in the game.
