TikTokers go viral eating every food in the world, but just in one city

A pair of TikTok creators are gaining popularity for their ambitious goal of trying every world cuisine – all without leaving New York City.

TikTok loves food reviews, and it’s become a popular way to discover new restaurants and cuisines as people travel the world. This has led to the rise of food influencers like Keith Lee and SamsPOV, whose reviews can now make or break a restaurant’s success.

Many people dream of traveling the world to try different foods, but two New Yorkers are taking a different approach: they’re determined to sample every type of cuisine available, all within the city limits.

The Instagram account tastebuds_nyc launched in November and has quickly become popular in 2026. It’s already gained over 500,000 followers and its videos have been viewed more than 10 million times.

They’re only posting one video each week, so it will take them almost four years – around 195 weeks – to finish everything. That’s a lot of commitment for a project that started on a sudden idea!

These best friends have visited eleven countries so far – Albania, Armenia, Bhutan, Morocco, Hungary, Indonesia, Paraguay, the Philippines, Tajikistan, South Korea, and Vietnam. They’ve experienced a wonderfully diverse range of foods along the way!

I’ve been watching these food videos, and the ones about Bhutan and Armenia have totally blown up! The Bhutan video especially – it’s already over 5 million views! I think it got so popular because there’s only one Bhutanese restaurant in all of New York City, and my friends actually got to interview the owner, which was really cool.

After winning those two competitions, tastebuds_nyc received a lot of positive feedback and compliments from viewers.

People loved the video, with one viewer saying Anthony Bourdain would have approved. Others encouraged the creators to make longer videos on YouTube, and one person declared it one of the best things they’d seen on the app.
