Silent Hill Devs Tease New Game, But Not The One Everyone Expected

Bloober Team, the studio behind games like Cronos: The New Dawn and Layers of Fear, as well as reportedly working on at least two Silent Hill titles, is hinting at a new project. The hints are very mysterious, and could simply be building anticipation for the already announced remake of the first Silent Hill game, suggesting a full announcement is coming soon.

Bloober Team shared a puzzling link on Twitter/X that leads to a countdown website. The site is filled with intriguing and unsettling hints about a new game they’re hinting at.

Valentine’s Day Is Going To Be A Big Day For Horror Fans

The website’s page is entirely red, marked with a rose symbol, and displays the chilling message: “Some things never leave the walls. They only learn to wait.” There’s also a button that plays an audio clip with a threatening voice, but parts of the recording are obscured by static, making it difficult to understand. When transcribed, the audio says:

You are ill… unseen… a creature of the night… a terrible storm has discovered your place of pleasure… a hidden, dark truth… something will end your life.

This text comes from a poem called “The Sick Rose” by William Blake. Considering this, and the visuals on the webpage, it seems likely that the poem – and roses themselves – will play a significant role in Bloober Team’s upcoming game.

The fact that this poem is directly mentioned and read aloud strongly suggests this teaser isn’t connected to previous Silent Hill games. It’s still possible a new Silent Hill game is being hinted at, but it would likely need to be a completely fresh installment with its own distinct ideas to explain the teaser and avoid connections to what came before.

Could Bloober’s New Game Be A Rule Of Rose Remake?

There are two main possibilities for what Bloober Team is working on. It could be a completely new game, meaning any clues we find about its story wouldn’t be helpful since we know nothing about it yet. Or, it could be connected to their older game, Rule of Rose, perhaps as a remake, a new installment, or a related story.

The recent teaser from Bloober Team immediately brought Rule of Rose to mind, showing just how much that game’s unsettling imagery has stuck with players. Given Bloober Team’s history of creating strong psychological horror games, it’s quite possible they’re planning a remake of another popular classic in the genre.

Despite its challenges, Cronos: The New Dawn demonstrated Bloober Team’s ability to create impressive and original horror games. We’re excited to see what they reveal around Valentine’s Day, especially with the Silent Hill remake also in the works.
