The recently extended demo of Anno 117: Pax Romana is limited in both time and content. Despite these restrictions, players are still exploring everything it has to offer (according to GameStar).
Fight with the Emperor in Anno 117 demo
Valle, a content creator, wondered if you could battle the game’s emperor in the demo. It seemed impossible with only an hour of playtime, but the YouTuber discovered a clever method to do it.
In the game *Anno 117*, your reputation matters a lot. If it falls to -100, the emperor will turn against you and attack with his army, trying to wipe you out.
To reach such a low reputation in the game, you need to be clever. Valle initially spent money without thinking, quickly racking up massive debts. While the emperor eventually provided financial assistance, this drastically lowered his opinion of the player.
Because of this, Valle quickly became known for being unpleasant. But he soon realized the emperor was all talk – he threatened war, but didn’t actually plan to fight. This led the YouTuber to come up with a new plan.

What will happen when we go bankrupt?
Valle wanted to see if the *Anno 117* demo accounted for players potentially going bankrupt. It’s surprisingly difficult to test this, as the game frequently gives players money from the emperor. However, you can choose to refuse this financial help.
The game warns you when your balance reaches negative $10,000, giving you two hours to add funds before the game ends. However, the demo version only lets you play for one hour, which doesn’t give enough time to recover from a low balance.
Valle discovered a workaround to the demo’s time limit. He found that by remaining in First-Person Perspective (FPP) mode, the demo wouldn’t end due to time. After waiting for two hours, all of his structures were destroyed and units dispersed, allowing him to explore a completely empty map. It appears the developers hadn’t anticipated this possibility.
Anno 117: Pax Romana will be released in full version on November 13, 2025, on PC, PS5, and XSX/S.
