It’s still uncertain if Wonder Man will get a second season, but if Marvel decides to continue Simon Williams’ story, here’s a look at what could happen…

The new Disney+ series, Wonder Man, is a unique show that blends the classic superhero origin story with the humor of an unlikely friendship and a critical look at the world of Hollywood.

We didn’t enjoy the series’ strange mix of genres, giving it a 2 out of 5 rating. In our review of Wonder Man, we said it felt less like a complete story and more like a drawn-out, disappointing introduction to something bigger.

The show ends without resolving everything, leaving the door open for future seasons. Here’s a look at where Wonder Man’s story could go next, including some ideas the show’s creator, Andrew Guest, is thinking about for Season 2.

How Wonder Man ending sets up Season 2

Wonder Man doesn’t deliver much in the way of classic superhero action. Throughout the first eight episodes, Simon Williams hardly seems aware of his own powers.

The show primarily follows his work as an actor and the growing bond he shares with Trevor Slattery. However, he doesn’t realize Trevor is secretly spending time with him to collect information for Agent Cleary at the Department of Damage Control.

Slattery ultimately decided against the deal and joined forces with Simon. He then reactivated his Mandarin identity and surrendered to the authorities, leading to Trevor’s imprisonment in a confidential DODC facility in Yuca Valley.

That’s when Williams takes charge, sneaking into the prison by following a guard. He uses his powers to release Trevor and then flies them both out through the roof.

The show concludes with a hint of what’s to come: Season 2 will likely focus on the Department of Damage Control trying to find Simon and Trevor, and figuring out how to manage or eliminate the danger presented by Wonder Man’s abilities.

Wonder Man vs Door Man

Okay, so there was this really weird episode of Wonder Man. It involved this bouncer guy who suddenly gets superpowers and becomes ‘Door Man.’ The whole thing took a crazy turn when Josh Gad’s character actually went inside Door Man, like, disappeared into his stomach, and we have no idea where he went after that! It was just… strange, even for a superhero show.

In a conversation with showrunner Andrew Guest, we learned that the show might reveal what happens to the main character in a future season.

He explained that Josh Gad is currently playing the character ‘Inside Door Man’ on the show. If the show gets a second season, he promises to bring Josh Gad’s character back into the main storyline and out of the ‘Door Man’ role.

You know, it just hit me – after spending so much time inside Josh Gadd’s character, maybe he actually gained Door Man’s powers! I’m starting to think Josh Gadd is the new Door Man now!

Guest added that he’d like to see Simon Williams team up with Kate Bishop in a future adventure.

Working with Hailee Steinfeld on Hawkeye made me realize her character and Simon would have a really compelling dynamic. She’s a remarkably brave and selfless person, despite having no superpowers. He, on the other hand, has a lot of power but doesn’t seem to care about using it.

“One day, maybe, those two will meet.”
