Even though Poker Face received positive reviews during its two seasons, Peacock cancelled the show last November. However, that might not be the final chapter for the series. Plans are in motion to potentially continue Poker Face on a different streaming platform, and even to recast the lead role. Instead of Natasha Lyonne, Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is being considered to play Charlie Cale. Dinklage recently gave an update on how these plans to revive the show are progressing.
Peter Dinklage discussed the potential for a third season of Poker Face in an interview with Deadline. He said that, according to what he’s recently heard from creator Ryan Johnson, the main challenge right now is finding a new network or streaming service to air the show.
They’re still figuring things out. From what I understand, the biggest challenge is physically moving it and setting it up in a new location – it’s a pretty complex process. But Rian is incredibly talented, and I’d be thrilled to work with him on whatever project he comes up with.
Most shows would face challenges when replacing a female lead with a male actor, but Peter Dinklage and Rian Johnson seem unfazed. The biggest issue right now for bringing back Poker Face is deciding where it will air. If they can resolve that, the question is whether Peacock will continue to host the first two seasons, or if the show will move permanently to another streaming service, similar to how Marvel shows originally on Netflix are now only available on Disney+.

Peter Dinklage playfully suggested they could call the show “Roulette Face” if needed, admitting it doesn’t quite have the same appeal as “Poker Face,” but he’s willing to compromise to resolve any legal issues. While he’s famous for his role as Tyrion Lannister in all eight seasons of “Game of Thrones,” Dinklage recently appeared as a regular on the first season of “Dexter: Resurrection.” However, his character won’t be returning for the show’s second season.
Beyond the move to a new streaming platform, the biggest question about the future of Poker Face is how they’ll handle the lead role change from Natasha Lyonne to Peter Dinklage. Will the next season continue the story from the first two, or will the show become an anthology series, with Dinklage’s Charlie simply sharing the same lie-detecting skill as Lyonne’s character? Lyonne has stated she’s stepping away from the role to concentrate on directing films.
We should find out by the end of 2026 whether Poker Face will be renewed. I’m really looking forward to seeing how Rian Johnson explains Charlie Cale’s mysterious changes and how Peter Dinklage’s character will tackle a new set of unusual cases. Hopefully, another streaming platform will pick up the show if it doesn’t continue on its current service.
