Mind-boggling crossplay mod lets Minecraft and Hytale fans play together

Even though Hytale was released just recently in mid-January, dedicated modders have already made an incredible mod that lets you play both Minecraft and Hytale with your friends at the same time.

Minecraft and Hytale are two of the most popular games for players to modify. Both games boast a huge library of mods – ranging from simple additions like furniture and new enemies to complete overhauls of the gameplay.

Although they’re distinct games, their simple, block-based style and focus on building in an open world make it easy to add modifications and custom content.

It’s funny, people often get Minecraft and Hytale confused, and I totally get why! A lot of us who love Minecraft are really excited about Hytale, so it’s awesome to hear about a new mod that actually lets the two games connect – basically, crossplay! It’s a dream come true to be able to play with friends no matter which game they’re in.

A user on the Hytale Reddit shared that they’re developing a way for players to play together across both the Hytale and Minecraft games.

Players will be able to move between Minecraft and Hytale and continue playing with their friends. It’s similar to cross-platform play in other games, but instead of connecting different devices, it connects two separate games.

So, the creator told me that right now, the Hytale server is basically running the whole show. Things are still pretty buggy, but the Hytale server is the one thing that’s actually stable and in control. As a player, that means I can only see and interact with other people who are also playing on the Hytale server – Minecraft players aren’t visible to me right now.

They created a video to show how the mod functions, explaining how characters, environments, building blocks, and gameplay interactions are handled within it.

The developer says there’s still work to be done, but crossplay between the two games should be available soon. In the meantime, plenty of mods are available to keep players entertained.
