Mark Ruffalo Finally Confirms Whether The Hulk Is In Avengers: Doomsday

Mark Ruffalo has finally clarified what happened to his character, the Hulk, in the recent movie Avengers: Doomsday. Bruce Banner has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its beginning, though Edward Norton originally played the Hulk. However, after Mark Ruffalo took on the role in The Avengers (2012), he became known as the face of the character.

Mark Ruffalo is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a major role, landing a part in the 2026 film Spider-Man: Brand New Day with Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal, and Sadie Sink. While other past Avengers like Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Robert Downey Jr. will be in Avengers: Doomsday, it hasn’t been confirmed whether Ruffalo will join them.

Mark Ruffalo recently told Empire that his character, the Hulk, won’t be in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. However, he’s willing to reprise the role after the Spider-Man: Brand New Day film, stating he’ll return “as long as they keep finding cool things to do with Hulk.” It’s currently unclear if this will happen in Avengers: Secret Wars or another project.

I’m happy with how they continue to develop the Hulk character. It’s really opened a lot of doors for me, and honestly, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for my involvement with The Avengers.

Marvel has dropped the first four trailers for their upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday. The trailers have created a lot of excitement, revealing Chris Evans will reprise his role as Captain America. We also got a glimpse of Thor with his adopted daughter, Love. But the biggest news was the first look at the X-Men, who are now officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Finally, the trailers showed a team-up between the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four, hinting at an epic collaboration.

Marvel and Sony haven’t released a trailer yet for the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as all eyes are currently on Avengers: Doomsday. However, photos taken on the set of the new Spider-Man movie have confirmed Mark Ruffalo will be back as the Hulk. Pictures show Bruce Banner being carried on a stretcher, appearing hurt or disoriented after transforming into the Hulk.

Mark Ruffalo says his character, the Hulk, won’t be in Avengers: Doomsday, but he might be misleading fans to hide a surprise appearance. Marvel actors have done this before – Chris Evans famously told ScreenRant last year he wouldn’t be back for the film, yet Captain America appeared in the first teaser trailer.

Although Marvel hasn’t confirmed Spider-Man or the Punisher will be in Avengers: Doomsday – despite them appearing with the Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day – there’s still a possibility Bruce Banner (the Hulk) could show up in Avengers: Secret Wars a year later. Secret Wars is expected to significantly reset the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
