As a huge Captain America fan, I was really disappointed by the recent decision. It completely undoes the beautiful, earned ending Steve Rogers got in Avengers: Endgame. Seeing him finally choose a life with Peggy Carter, and share that dance he’d always dreamed of, felt so right! Plus, it perfectly passed the torch to Sam Wilson as the new Captain America. Now, with Captain America: Brave New World, it feels like they’re retconning all of that, and a lot of us fans feel like it diminishes what made that ending so special.

The Russo Brothers introduced the trailer with a message about a character who deeply impacted them, and the story that united everyone involved. They hinted that the narrative was destined to return to this particular point.

The popular team is now having to explain their decision to bring back Steve Rogers. The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday shows him holding a baby, and a quick shot of his Captain America suit strongly suggests what’s coming next.

The Russo Brothers told Empire Magazine (via Avengers Updated on X) that Captain America’s importance to the Avengers and the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe is deeply meaningful to them. They believe the MCU story wouldn’t be the same without his key part in it.
