Not Even a Genius Rambo Could Save ‘Off the Grid’ From Critics

Lionsgate
When Off the Grid was released, critics heavily panned it, giving it an 8% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. CBR suggested the movie would have been better if it focused more on dramatic elements, while Culture Mix bluntly called it a silly action film. Variety even joked that the script seemed written by artificial intelligence, and Cinemalogue described the plot as a simple, extended game of hide-and-seek with armed, unpleasant characters. Honestly, that doesn’t sound terrible.
Even so, it’s clear there’s a demand – at least in the U.K. – for simple, exciting action movies starring the appealing Josh Duhamel as a resourceful hero. However, don’t count on a follow-up anytime soon.

Beyond his action roles, Josh Duhamel is now part of the popular neo-Western trend with his leading role in the Netflix series, Ransom Canyon. While a second season of the show might keep him occupied, he’s expressed interest in returning to the Transformers universe. He previously told MovieWeb that he’d be happy to reprise his role as Colonel William Lennox, especially with a planned crossover between Transformers and G.I. Joe in development.
Duhamel admitted he hadn’t been told about it, but thought it was a great suggestion. He suspected they might be moving forward without him, but he expressed his interest in being included.
