HBO is developing a Game of Thrones sequel that will focus on the further adventures of Jon Snow.
This week brings exciting news for fans of Game of Thrones! The new series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has launched and is receiving mostly good reviews.
At first, the show takes a little while to get going, but once it does, you can really see its vision, and it’s ultimately rewarding. While not perfect, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms delivers a fun story about honor, faithfulness, and the real meaning of knighthood.
So, I’m really excited because there’s a new show coming that’s a prequel to Game of Thrones – it’s set way before the events we already know. But even cooler, they’re also working on another series that will actually continue the story after the original GoT finale! It’s going to be amazing to see what happens next.
Jon Snow series set to feature Arya Stark

HBO is reportedly starting to develop a new series based on Jon Snow, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show is in its very early stages and would follow Jon Snow’s adventures in Essos, a region inspired by the Mediterranean, and also include his cousin Arya Stark.
Author Quoc Dang Tran is exploring a continuation of the story, and HBO has expressed strong interest, but also acknowledges the need to meet very high standards for any follow-up.
Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow, once suggested a show idea to HBO about his character dealing with PTSD following the show’s ending. However, he revealed to Entertainment Weekly in 2024 that the network ultimately decided not to move forward with the project.

We decided to put the project on hold because it didn’t seem worthwhile to continue with it right now, Harrington explained. He added that he only would have considered developing something with Jon Snow if he saw potential in the idea, and there was definitely a possibility it could have worked.
Both HBO and I deeply value this character, and we’re committed to avoiding anything that would damage their reputation. That’s our biggest concern.
In a recent interview with Variety, the actor said he has no plans to return to the role, explaining that he’s spent a decade playing the character and is ready to move on.
Whether Harrington will return as Jon Snow if the show moves forward is still uncertain, and HBO might choose a different actor for the part.
