Leading the pack this awards season is Jessie Buckley, and she’s definitely living up to expectations. She’s already won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama, recognizing her emotional performance as Mrs. Shakespeare, following a win at the Critics Choice Awards. During her speech at the Critics Choice Awards, she captivated the audience with a story about cave paintings and playfully told her co-star Paul Mescal she could “drink him like water” – a line worthy of an award in itself! Tonight, she continued the quirky theme, thanking Tomek, a grip on the Hamnet set, who brought a cast-iron pot from Poland and made incredible soup. That soup deserves a shout-out!
She also made a point of saying her husband is really enjoying the drinks and appetizers, which are definitely a perk of attending these events. Her main competition for awards so far is Rose Byrne, who previously won Best Actress in a Comedy, but most people still anticipate seeing Buckley accept several awards this season. Hopefully, her acceptance speeches will continue to be delightfully unusual, and she’ll keep eliciting a few tears from Paul Mescal along the way.
