We at TopMob are big fans of the Pokémon series! While I remember a time when downloadable content wasn’t part of Pokémon games, I’m happy to see recent titles experimenting with it. There’s nothing better than catching monsters, and having even more monsters to catch is a huge plus. The DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A in particular introduced some really cool and unique Mega Evolutions.
This list ranks the new Mega Evolutions from the Mega Dimension, considering both how vulnerable they are and how powerful they could be in battle. We’ve also taken into account how awesome they look! It includes some surprisingly strong – and strange – choices.

18. Mega Crabominable

I enjoy seeing simple Pokémon lines receive new forms, so I was glad to see Crabominable get a Mega Evolution. However, it’s a bit disappointing that its type didn’t change, leaving it vulnerable to a large number – six – of different attack types.
Mega Crabominable becomes even more powerful offensively, letting it deal serious damage to opponents. Great moves to use include Mach Punch, Ice Hammer, and Zen Headbutt, and it’s a good idea to also teach it moves like Protect or Bulk Up to help it survive.
17. Mega Baxcalibur

I’ll never forget my first battle with a Baxcalibur. I had no idea what its weaknesses were, and it almost defeated me instantly. Once I figured out how easily it could be taken down, though, I wasn’t as impressed with it anymore.
It’s normal for Pokémon to have weaknesses, and I don’t usually worry about Dragon-type attacks. However, Baxcalibur, being both Dragon and Ice-type, is vulnerable to quite a few attacks. Luckily, both Baxcalibur and its Mega Evolution have a lot of HP and Attack power, so they can still deal significant damage.
Don’t take any risks – use powerful attacks like Glaive Rush, Icicle Crash, Zen Headbutt, and Earthquake. If you act quickly, the ice might not melt before you strike!
16. Mega Golurk

I really love Ghost-type Pokémon. While they’re often a little strange, they give the creators at Game Freak a chance to get really creative with their designs. The Ground/Ghost Mega Golurk is a perfect example of this unique approach.
Mega Golurk functions much like a classic Golem – a tough, defensive Pokémon. It has high HP, solid Defense and Special Defense, and a powerful Attack stat. This combination allows it to take a beating, even from attacks it’s normally weak against.
Okay, so when I’m building this Pokémon for straight-up attacking, I usually go with moves like Double-Edge and Earthquake. But if I’m trying to play a bit more strategically and set up some traps, I prefer Phantom Force and Stealth Rock. Honestly, this Ghost-type is just wonderfully strange, and I’m here for it!
15. Mega Staraptor

I have mixed feelings about Mega Staraptor. It looks great with that red streak, and changing its type to Fighting/Flying is an interesting idea. However, this also gives it two new weaknesses, which is a downside.
Even so, Mega Staraptor remains quick and powerful, allowing it to attack a few times before being hit by strong moves like lightning or ice. This is useful because it buys you time to use moves like Agility and Feather Dance.
Okay, so when I’m building my Pokémon for attacking, I really focus on the Attack stat. That way, I can use powerful moves like Close Combat and Brave Bird, or even surprise opponents with something like Outrage! It’s all about maximizing that physical damage.
14. Mega Glimmora

I’ve always had a complicated relationship with Poison and Rock-type Pokémon. So, when a Pokémon combines both types, like Mega Glimmora, I struggle to figure out the best strategy. Usually, I think these Pokémon are more effective when used for surprise tactics and disruption rather than pure offensive power.
Mega Glimmora’s strength lies in its high Defense and Special Defense, combined with a good amount of HP and respectable Special Attack. This allows it to withstand attacks and disrupt its opponents.
If you need to strike back, consider using attacks like Ancient Power, Sludge Wave, and Meteor Beam. You can also disrupt your opponent with moves like Flash Cannon and Endure.
13. Mega Heatran

We’re now looking at some of the most reliable options here. Even better, Mega Heatran gives a Pokémon that doesn’t evolve a much-deserved spotlight.
Mega Heatran is impressively durable, with only a couple of common weaknesses and a strong weakness to Ground-type attacks. This allows it to effectively use its powerful Special Attack moves in many battles, and Abilities like Flash Fire further enhance its strengths.
Essentially, you should primarily use Fire-type attacks such as Heat Wave, Fire Blast, and Fire Spin. Also, take advantage of its Steel typing by using moves like Metal Sound and Iron Defense to boost its strengths.
12. Mega Chimeco

It’s always been obvious that Chimecho resembled a wind chime, so it feels natural that its Mega Evolution, Mega Chimecho, becomes a Psychic and Steel-type Pokémon.
Mega Chimeco isn’t known for having incredible stats, but luckily it doesn’t have many weaknesses. It’s best used by focusing on strong defenses and utilizing Special Attack in battle.
When it’s time to strike, Mega Chimeco works best using moves like Psybeam, Boomburst, Energy Ball, and Shadow Ball. Even if its battle performance isn’t amazing, Mega Chimeco at least has a cool design and an interesting type combination.
11. Mega Darkrai

Adding a Legendary Pokémon to your team is fantastic, but when that Pokémon can also Mega Evolve, it’s a game-changer. Pokémon like Mega Darkrai really showcase this power, giving you an incredible boost.

Mega Darkrai isn’t the fastest Pokémon, but it makes up for it with incredibly powerful Special Attack and generally solid stats. Add in just three weaknesses, and you get a durable Dark-type that can both withstand damage and hit hard.
Mega Darkrai is a powerful fighter with moves like Ominous Wind, Psybeam, Dark Void, and Sludge Bomb, making it a formidable opponent. It’s a truly shadowy and threatening Pokémon.
10. Mega Meowstic

Meowstic hasn’t had many ways to evolve, so I was glad to see it finally get a Mega Evolution. Mega Meowstic looks great, and it only has a few weaknesses when battling – just three different type matchups.
Okay, so I’ve been checking out Mega Meowstic, and honestly, it’s looking really good. It’s got a seriously strong Special Attack, and its Speed and defenses are pretty solid too. It could be exactly what my team needs to fill a hole. The only thing is, being a Psychic-type, it’s likely to run into opponents using moves like Reflect or Taunt, which could cause some trouble.
When Mega Meowstic needs to strike back, it can use strong Special Attack moves such as Moonblast, Swift, Energy Ball, and Earth Power.
9. Mega Scovillain

I really enjoy clever, pun-based names in games. So, when a Grass/Fire Pokémon is named after the Scoville scale – which measures how spicy peppers are – I’m immediately interested. Add a design based on a two-headed pepper, and Mega Scovillain is a brilliant creation.
The best thing about Mega Scovillain is its balanced attack power – both its physical and special attacks are equally strong. This gives it access to a wide variety of powerful moves, making it incredibly versatile. As someone who likes Pokémon that can handle any challenge, I find that really appealing.
Mega Scovillain is a versatile Pokémon with a range of attack options, like Zen Headbutt and Seed Bomb, or combinations like Giga Drain and Fire Spin. No matter how you build it, it’s sure to be a powerful and enjoyable addition to your team.
