The next season of HBO’s The White Lotus is moving to a seriously luxurious location. Instead of a Four Seasons resort like previous seasons, stars Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka will be filming at the Château de la Messardière, a stunning castle hotel in Saint-Tropez, France. Built in the 1800s as a private home, it quickly became a favorite getaway for wealthy Parisians in the 1920s. Now, a night at the hotel can cost anywhere from $3,000 to over $8,000.
Does the location of the next season offer any clues about the storyline? The Château de la Messardière, where filming will take place, has plenty of features – restaurants, pools, and a sports club – that could be incorporated into the plot. (Natasha Rothwell has hinted she’s ready to return, and the castle also has a spa where her character, Belinda, might visit!) However, details are still limited, and the show won’t be filmed only at the castle. According to Variety, the season will unfold across multiple locations along the French Riviera, including a hotel in Paris. Filming is expected to start in late April and wrap up in October, and Variety reports that the Cannes Film Festival in May might even be featured in the story. Ultimately, we’ll likely have to wait at least another year to find out if the next season will involve the dramatic, shocking events fans have come to expect from The White Lotus.
