Umamusume plush recalled after fans spot obvious design flaw

A popular Umamusume plush toy was recalled due to a significant design mistake, and the company has apologized to fans.

Gift, the company that makes plush toys, admitted a mistake with their Vivlos plush. It was accidentally made with human ears instead of the horse ears that are characteristic of the Uma’s design. Fans noticed the error soon after it became available for purchase and shared it online.

Gift explained that the issue stemmed from a mistake during the sewing process, where extra, unintended ear-like pieces were accidentally added to the stuffed animal.

The item, which cost about $45 USD (6,500 yen), was sold at both Comic Market 107, held December 30-31, 2025, and at the AmiAmi store in Akihabara, Tokyo.

Vivlos is a character in the game Umamusume: Pretty Derby, inspired by the real racehorse Vivlos. The horse was famous for winning the Dubai Turf in 2017, and the character version is available to unlock in the game.
