Arc Raiders exploit lets you see in the dark & it’s “basically cheating”

I’ve been playing Arc Raiders on PC, and it’s crazy – a lot of us have figured out how to tweak the settings to basically give ourselves night vision and see right through smoke! It’s a pretty big advantage, honestly.

Players can use commands and graphics options to clear away visual obstructions on maps, such as fog and dust. This makes the game much brighter and gives players exceptionally clear vision, but it also reduces the overall atmosphere.

The same principle applies to smoke grenades: these settings practically eliminate their obscuring effect, allowing you to see clearly through the smoke. This simplifies combat, but also puts players with different settings at a significant disadvantage.

I was really excited about the night raids, but some PC players started using Nvidia filters to make them easier to see. The developers, Embark Studios, shut that down pretty quickly. But I recently found out you can actually use console commands to do the same thing! It basically makes the night raids look like they’re happening during the day, which is kind of a neat workaround, though maybe not what the developers intended.

It’s common for some players to obsess over optimizing every detail, and they often miss the point of what the game developers were trying to create. It might seem like a mild observation, but this kind of behavior gradually ruins the enjoyment of games for everyone, in my opinion.

Some players are minimizing their graphics settings and maximizing their field of view to prioritize spotting opponents over visual detail, essentially sacrificing map clarity for a better chance at finding enemies.

These glitches give players a significant edge, particularly when playing with console users who can’t use the same commands. Some players feel it’s unfair, essentially like cheating. Now, the community wants the game developers to fix this problem soon.

One Reddit user reported that players are using console commands to alter the game in ways that give them unfair advantages – like removing smoke effects or seeing through walls during nighttime activities, and even changing their field of view to an unrealistic extent. They warned that if the developers don’t address these issues, the game’s popularity could decline.

“If an update wasn’t required urgently before, it absolutely is now,” said another on X.

Embark Studios announced they’re stepping up their efforts to combat cheaters in the game. They plan to update their rules and use new tools to find and ban players who are cheating.

So, these aren’t hacks you install – they’re ways to break the game using stuff that’s already in it. That makes fixing them way harder, honestly. It’s a whole different kind of challenge for the developers.
