Fans of the science fiction series Silo – and those who enjoy the Apple TV+ show – can currently find collectible editions of Hugh Howey’s novels at great prices. The deluxe collector’s editions of the first two books, Wool and Shift, are both at least 50% off. Wool is now just $15.19, reduced from $40, and Shift is available for $20, down from $40.
For years, hardcover copies of the Silo series were hard to find and costly. When William Morrow released the first Collector’s Edition, it was a welcome change. The Wool Deluxe Collector’s Edition, published in late 2024, has repeatedly sold out. The Shift Deluxe Collector’s Edition followed in September, and at just $20, it’s the most affordable edition available.
Hugh Howey’s Silo Series: Deluxe Collector’s Editions
The third season of Apple’s TV show, based on Hugh Howey’s novels, is expected to premiere in 2026. Now is a great time to revisit the books! The first two seasons covered the story in ‘Wool,’ and Season 3 will adapt ‘Shift,’ which actually happens earlier in the timeline. The series will conclude with a fourth season based on the final book, ‘Dust’.
Good news for those interested in Dust! The book’s description on paperback and Kindle now mentions the Deluxe Collector’s Edition, suggesting preorders will be available soon. You should be able to find it on Amazon’s page for the Silo Series once it’s available for pre-order.
Wool depicts a future where humanity is confined to an underground silo, escaping a toxic surface world. When the sheriff unexpectedly departs, a mechanic named Juliette steps up to lead, and quickly finds herself caught up in a thrilling sci-fi mystery with potentially world-changing implications.
Hugh Howey first published Wool himself in 2011 through Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing. It began as a series of shorter stories, similar to the way novels were released in parts during the 1800s by authors like Charles Dickens. Wool quickly became a major success story for self-publishing on Kindle. This caught the attention of traditional publishers, and a printed version was released in 2012. The series’ continued popularity eventually led to the critically praised Apple TV+ show.
The Silo series is also fantastic as an audiobook, narrated by Edoardo Ballerini. Audible subscribers can purchase all three books for approximately $27, while those without a subscription will likely pay around $32. If you prefer a visual format, a graphic novel adaptation of Wool came out in 2014 and is currently available in paperback for $11.50 – discounted from its original price of $19.

Check out The Martian Deluxe Edition
Hugh Howey’s Wool wasn’t the only science fiction hit to begin life as an online story. In 2011, the same year Howey started publishing on Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), Andy Weir began sharing his novel The Martian on his blog. After gaining traction on Kindle, The Martian was picked up by Crown, an imprint of Random House, and published as a hardcover book in 2014. The book’s popularity soared, leading to a major motion picture adaptation starring Matt Damon and directed by Ridley Scott, released in 2015.
Just in time for spring, a special collector’s edition of Andy Weir’s first novel is coming out, and it looks fantastic! You can preorder The Martian Deluxe Edition now for $35.42 (originally $38) and it will be released on May 26th.
