The new Dying Light: The Beast expansion just came out, and while many players are still downloading it, discussions are already heating up – specifically about whether or not it includes Ray Tracing. Some fans claim it does, while others disagree. The reality, as is often the case, seems to be somewhere in between.
What happened with Ray Tracing in Dying Light The Beast?
If you’ve searched for “Dying Light The Beast Ray Tracing” on Google, you likely saw an Nvidia blog post promoting the game’s features. The post boasted that “Dying Light: The Beast Launches Today With DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, Ray Tracing & NVIDIA Reflex.” However, this isn’t completely accurate. It appears that the game developers, Techland, and Nvidia didn’t fully coordinate on the details before the announcement.
Just two hours before the game launches, the official Dying Light X account shared news that Ray Tracing won’t be available at release.
To ensure the game launches with the best possible performance and fewest issues, we’re temporarily turning off ray tracing while we complete some final tweaks. Getting ray tracing working perfectly is our team’s highest priority, and we plan to add it back in shortly after the game is released.
Ray tracing won’t be available when the game first launches, but it’s likely to be added in a future update soon. The game is generally very good – you can read our full review to learn more about what works well and what doesn’t. It’s still worth playing even without ray tracing right now, but if you’re eager to experience it, you’ll need to wait a little longer. Either way, enjoy the game!
