We think this actor would be a great choice for Miles Morales! He was actually on our list of potential candidates months ago. It’s only a matter of time before Marvel casts the role, and this actor already has the physical ability to pull off the character’s acrobatic moves.
Just a few months ago, McLaughlin told Time magazine that playing Miles Morales would be a dream come true. Interestingly, he already has a connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – his Stranger Things co-star, Sadie Sink, is joining Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, although her role hasn’t been announced yet.
Last July, when asked about Miles Morales joining the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explained that Sony asked them to hold off on using the character until Sony completes its animated Spider-Verse films. This could make it harder for John McLaughlin to be cast in the role, considering the next animated movie isn’t scheduled for release until 2027. However, things can always change behind the scenes at a studio, so it’s still possible!
After Stranger Things ends, Caleb McLaughlin is staying busy! He’s starring as the main character in Sony’s new animated movie, Goat, where he plays a goat who wants to be a “roarball” star. The film hits theaters on February 13th. It’s awesome to see him exploring new roles after the success of the Netflix series, but many fans still think he’d be perfect as Miles Morales!
