So, like every year, 4Gamer and Famitsu just dropped their big end-of-year interviews with a ton of game devs. It’s a cool tradition in Japan – they get everyone’s thoughts on the past year and, even better, what they’re hoping to achieve in 2026. I always love reading what these creators are planning for the future!

I’m still battling health issues, and it keeps meaning I’m in and out of the hospital. I used to handle everything myself, but now I’m having to share the workload with others. Honestly, looking at everything, I’m starting to think I pushed myself too hard. I haven’t been able to delegate much yet, but my biggest goal is to get Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement finished and released while I’m still around to see it happen.
Koji “IGA” Igarashi
(Famitsu)
I’m focused on releasing the new game, Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement. I also want to prioritize my health, as I had several hospital visits in 2025, and plan to make some positive lifestyle changes to do so.
We’re working hard on Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, and the entire team is focused on supporting our creative director, SHUTARO, who is currently unwell. We want him to be able to rest and recover, and we’re excited to share more updates soon.

In 2025, I released Calamity Angels: Special Delivery. I decided to try something different from the generally darker themes we’ve been seeing, and went with a more upbeat, pop-inspired design. I’m really happy people enjoyed the characters and world!
Currently, I’m hard at work on the artwork for a new game, and I hope you’ll be excited to see it when it’s ready!

As a big fan, I’m so excited to see Persona 3 Reload – I actually helped work on it! – now available on the Switch 2! It feels like everyone’s releasing new games around the New Year, which is awesome. It’s also been a rough winter with the flu going around and the weather being so cold, so what better way to spend time than cozying up at home with a new game? Just remember to get up and move around a bit too!

I’m so relieved that Persona 3 Reload is now available on the Nintendo Switch! I hope players can enjoy it in lots of different ways – whether they’re relaxing in bed, leveling up on their commute, or experiencing the exciting parts on a big TV with friends and family.
I’m currently brainstorming ideas for my next game, bouncing them off my colleagues, and we’re having some lively discussions. It’s a busy time, but we’re all really enjoying the process!

We have two exciting releases planned for the first half of 2026. First, on January 29th, we’ll launch Card-en-Ciel for the Nintendo Switch 2, offering a better experience with mouse controls, 4K resolution, and smoother gameplay. We’re also creating physical editions for fans to enjoy! Then, on April 23rd, we’re releasing Kingdom’s Return, a brand new action RPG for consoles. We’re currently working on the second set of downloadable content for Super Robot Wars Y, and we hope you’ll look forward to it!

2025 was a fantastic year with the release of Digimon Story: Time Stranger! We’re incredibly grateful for the support, seeing both longtime Digimon fans and new players enjoying the game.
In 2026, our priority is releasing the 2nd and 3rd Season Pass DLC packs for the game. Thanks for continuing to support the Digimon team!

Digimon Story: Time Stranger finally launched this year after a long development process. Working on it has been a huge learning experience for me as a director, and I’ve grown a lot. I’m excited to apply what I’ve learned to create even better games for our players starting in 2026.

I moved in 2024, but I haven’t made much progress on getting settled. I’m hoping to have things organized by 2026. Work isn’t my main focus right now, actually it’s probably further down the list. I’m starting to feel like my current role might not last, but I’m accepting that’s just part of life.
I’ve been performing in the Bakuken stage plays around the end of each year, and I expect we’ll likely do it again in 2026.

I’m sharing the same feedback as I did last year. I sincerely hope the ongoing conflicts resolve soon and those responsible for harming children are held accountable.
In his New Year’s messages on 4Gamer, Yoko Taro expressed sadness over the tragic loss of children in the wars in Ukraine and Gaza. He first mentioned this in late 2023, and reiterated his concern at the end of 2024, noting that these conflicts were still ongoing.

I felt really burnt out after working on Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, so I’m hoping to recharge in 2026 by focusing on things that bring me joy. I want to start by finally trying out a popular game I’ve been hearing about.
We’re happy to see Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma has been well-received! Thank you to everyone who’s been playing. Development on Rune Factory 6 is also actively underway.

I’m aiming for a fresh start, a time to simplify both my work and personal life. I want to strip things back to the essentials and rediscover what truly matters – a renewed sense of purpose and dedication to meaningful work.
After a difficult event in September 2025, I’m starting to recover and wondering if now is a good time to begin something new.

We appreciate your continued support! In 2025, we released Stella Sora, a game developed in-house. Many of you may already know this, but Yostar has a long-standing love for Bishojo games and continues to be passionate about them.
Our goal for 2026 is to create entertainment that all of our supporters will enjoy. We’re also excited about what next year holds.

In 2025, Fate/Grand Order celebrated its 10th anniversary, and the story of Part 2 concluded on December 20th. We are incredibly grateful to all our players for their continued support over the years, and as a team, we’re proud to have been a part of this journey.
I’m looking forward to a new challenge in 2026. While I’ve been concentrating on management recently, I still want to keep creating and developing my skills. I hope this year will be a time of growth for me, and I plan to work hard to achieve that. I hope to see you all again in 2026!

We’re making progress on fulfilling our promises to the backers of Eiyuden Chronicle, and I apologize for the delay! We’re aiming to host an event for fans around the game’s second anniversary in April. On a personal note, I’d also like to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Shadow of Memories, the first game I ever produced at Konami.
I can’t share many details just yet about what Rabbit & Bear Studios is working on, which is frustrating, but things are definitely progressing!

This year focused on getting ready for our next big release, and next year will be dedicated to further preparations. Things aren’t going perfectly smoothly, so it will likely take some time before we can fully announce it, but we are making steady progress. Stay tuned for the new release from Rabbit & Bear Studios!
The creator now fully owns the rights to Kleissis and Arca Last, the app that stopped running in April. I’m considering bringing it back in some form, but I haven’t decided exactly what that will look like yet.

As a fan, it’s awesome to see the creator pushing themselves! They’ve said starting a new game is tough, but they really believe tackling those big challenges is what makes a game creator great. They’re determined to put more energy into making the game they’ve always dreamed of, and I’m really excited to see it happen!
Things are pretty busy behind the scenes right now – I’m working on a lot, but don’t have anything concrete to share just yet. I’m really putting in the effort so I can have some exciting news to announce next year, though! I’m hoping it’ll be worth the wait.

We’re excited to announce that in 2026, we’ll be revisiting a project we’ve paused. Please review the details when they become available.
Moving forward, I’d like to focus on releasing titles carefully, one at a time. We previously released too many titles too quickly, which didn’t allow us to fully showcase their strengths. Now, we plan to develop titles thoughtfully, taking into account feedback from players who have enjoyed them.
Please keep on supporting Level-5 in 2026!

2025 was a year of strong collaboration for the entire company as we focused on creating games like Fantasy Life and Inazuma Eleven. As always, Level-5 prioritized meticulous detail and quickly addressed user feedback after release – and I believe we successfully shared that commitment across the team. We definitely learned a lot along the way, and those lessons will be valuable going forward.
Building on that experience, in 2026 we’ll continue to focus on delivering polished games with strong content and satisfying gameplay.
Regarding Decapolice, the game I’m working on, I can’t share too many details just yet, but development is progressing well. We’re also exploring innovative gameplay features, including unique stories and investigative elements. I’ll be sure to share more information when the time is right, so please stay tuned!
