Skate Softlock Issue: EA Is Investigating But Needs Your Help

The new Skate game from EA, their first in fifteen years, had a strong launch on Steam with many players jumping into the early-access version. However, the launch hasn’t been perfect – some players have run into server problems and other technical issues. A specific bug causing a ‘softlock‘ – preventing progress in certain areas – is also being reported.

Players have been reporting getting stuck in the game at several points, including the Isle of Grom tutorial and during missions or challenges. The development team at Full Circle is working to find out what’s causing these issues and release a fix quickly, but they need some help from players to understand the problem.

Electronic Arts is asking players who are stuck and unable to progress – whether in a mission, challenge, or the tutorial – to post in this thread. Please include your platform (like PlayStation, Xbox, or PC), the specific problem area, and your username so they can help.

“Thanks for your patience. We’re on it,” EA said.

Skate is a free game that requires an internet connection to play, and its servers experienced problems when it first launched. An outage happened overnight, so EA performed maintenance, which has now been completed.

The current version of Skate is still in development and has some bugs and problems, which is typical for games released in early access. The developers, EA and Full Circle, plan to use player feedback to improve the game before its official launch.

Skate is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Today, the game hit over 80,000 players at the same time on Steam alone!
