YouTuber Ross Creations under investigation for animal abuse over ‘opossum launcher’ video

YouTuber Ross Creations is being investigated by Florida authorities after a video of him building a device to launch opossums caused public criticism.

On November 30, 2025, Ross Creations, a content creator and prankster from Florida, shared a video on Instagram revealing a device he’d built called the ‘Opossum Launcher.’

The device does exactly what you’d expect. A popular video shows a wild opossum approaching a food-baited trap, stepping on a launching mechanism, and being propelled several meters through the air.

The animal fell to the ground with a noticeable thump, then casually walked off, which Ross found disappointing.

People were very upset by the influencer’s video, especially because he didn’t seem to care that he had hurt a possum, and many called it animal abuse.

News reports on December 15th revealed that Ross is being investigated by both the Florida State Attorney’s Office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is officially investigating after receiving reports from viewers who were concerned about a video showing a possum being launched.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) stated they strongly enforce wildlife laws and are dedicated to safeguarding Florida’s animals. They are asking anyone with information about this incident to report it to the Wildlife Alert Hotline.

Details about the investigation are limited right now, but the brief video has quickly become a national story, and even prompted a reaction from PETA.

PETA’s Kristin Rickman told ABC7 the video is deeply disturbing, describing it as a senseless and cruel act against a vulnerable animal just trying to live its life.

Florida law defines animal cruelty as causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, which includes overloading, overworking, tormenting, or depriving it of food and shelter. It also covers intentionally harming or killing an animal.

In Florida, people convicted of animal cruelty could face jail time, fines, or both, with fines potentially reaching thousands of dollars.

This isn’t the first time Ross has had trouble with the law. The YouTuber has been arrested twice before: once in 2024 for illegally entering private property while filming, and again in 2019 for pretending to be a police officer.

Ross hasn’t publicly addressed the investigation into his video, but the video has been taken down from his page.
