Capcom recently shared more information about how Title Update 4 will boost performance and improve optimization in Monster Hunter Wilds. They published a blog post and released comparison videos to showcase these enhancements.
This blog post details how Capcom improved performance, including specific percentage gains, and includes two videos comparing the changes. You can find the post and videos linked below. If you’re not familiar with the recent update, you can read about it here, and find the full patch notes here.

The next free update, Title Update 4, will improve performance on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam by optimizing both the CPU and GPU.
Processing Improvements and Load Reduction
- – Processing time will be improved by distributing the process across frames for elements that demand the heaviest load, which includes players, monsters, and graphical user interfaces (primarily the HUD and maps).
- – Processing load is reduced by comprehensively reviewing and streamlining various processes, such as reducing the number of simultaneous effects and improving collision detection for Palico and Seikret.
- – Various other improvements, including optimization and reduction of memory usage, will be implemented.
We’re making changes to improve the game for everyone without disrupting what you already enjoy. These updates will streamline common tasks and fix problems players have been experiencing, even on different computer setups.
Gameplay Comparisons – TU3 vs. TU4 (Steam Version)
These videos compare how the game plays with Free Title Update 3 versus Free Title Update 4, specifically on computers that meet the ‘Recommended’ specifications listed on Steam.
- *Testing was conducted with the frame generation setting set to “Disable”.
- *Performance metrics captured using Steam’s in-game overlay performance monitor.
- *This is only one example, and performance may vary depending on PC configuration and other environmental factors.
- *Content in development is subject to change.
1. Intel CPU and NVIDIA GPU combination
This video shows us how well a computer performs when using the processor and graphics card we recommend for optimal performance.
Hardware Environment
- – CPU: Intel Core i5-10400
- – GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super (VRAM 8GB)
- – Resolution: 1080p (Upscaled) *NVIDIA DLSS: Performance
- – Graphics Settings: Medium
2.AMD CPU and AMD GPU combination
This video reviews the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor, a popular choice that meets the recommended specifications for many systems.
- *The AMD CPU specified in the recommended specs in system requirements is the AMD Ryzen 5 3600.
Hardware Environment
- – CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
- – GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600(VRAM 8GB)
- – Resolution: 1080p (Upscaled) *AMD FSR: Performance
- – Graphics Settings: Medium
Okay, so I’ve been playing in the Windward Plains a lot, and it usually gets pretty laggy during those Inclemency events. Before the update, I was getting around 40 FPS, no matter what graphics settings I used, with frame generation turned off. But after the update dropped, I’m happy to say my FPS is usually above 40 now – it’s definitely smoother!
I’m really excited to share that we’ve seen a solid improvement in how smoothly the game runs! Specifically, in areas like the Scarlet Forest and Oilwell Basin, we’re getting around 5% or even more frames per second. That means things should feel noticeably smoother there, and on average, you’ll probably have a better experience with frame rates in those spots compared to the Windward Plains.
- *This is only one example, and performance may vary depending on PC configuration and other environmental factors. For instance, this update yields limited improvements for hardware at the “minimum” system requirements, when compared to the improved frame rate seen at the “recommended” system requirements.
After launching Free Title Update 4, we’ll keep working on making the game more stable and improving its performance. We’ll also share more information soon about what’s coming in January and February of 2026.
Notice
After launching Free Title Update 4, we’ll be taking down the Monster Hunter Wilds Benchmark from Steam. Because the update significantly improved the game’s performance, the benchmark is no longer a reliable way to gauge how the full game will run.
Okay, so Monster Hunter Wilds is finally out! I’ve been waiting for this one. You can grab it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam. If you’re jumping in, I’ve been checking out some guides to help me get started – I’ll link them all here for anyone else who wants a hand.
