Spectacular science fiction game finally has a release date. Pragmata will offer „a new kind of gameplay,” which you can check out today

Update (December 11)

The release date for Pragmata was finally announced at The Game Awards 2025: it will launch on April 24th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. A demo will be available on Steam soon, with a console version expected to follow at a later date.

Original news (October 7)

Many games and shows with two main characters let you play with a friend, but Capcom’s upcoming action game, Pragmata, will be different. The developers believe that adding a co-op mode would disrupt the planned story and gameplay experience for the characters, Hugh and Diana.

Naoto Oyama, the producer of the game Pragmata, recently explained why the game won’t have a co-op mode in an interview with Automaton Japan. According to DualShockers, he said that in Pragmata:

The game focuses on teamwork between Hugh and Diana, not just fighting. They’ll need to rely on each other to get around – for instance, Diana can hack doors or systems, allowing Hugh to use his thrusters or hover to reach new areas. If you get lost, Diana can scan and point you in the right direction. This cooperation is essential to progress.

Sounds like a game perfect for co-op mode? According to the creators, not necessarily:

We thought about including a co-op mode, but our main focus with Pragmata was to create a unique way to play. We really wanted a single player to be able to handle both the action and the puzzles at the same time, embracing the fast-paced and engaging feeling that creates, and that’s how the game ultimately took shape.

Simply put, the game designers aimed to constantly engage players with new and interesting things. However, allowing a second player to join would disrupt this carefully planned experience, something Capcom didn’t want.

Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for Pragmata. However, the game is planned to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2026.
