Digital Extremes has released a new trailer for the next story installment of Warframe, called The Old Peace. It’s available to play now on all platforms.
Hey everyone, the new update is live and it’s packed with cool stuff! We’re talking experimental game modes to try out, some awesome new ways to fight, and the graphics look better than ever. But the biggest news for me? You can romance Protoframes now! Seriously, it’s a game changer. If you want the full story, I recently chatted with Warframe’s Community Director, Megan Everett, about ‘The Old Peace’ – you can find that interview here.

Digital Extremes has released ‘The Old Peace,’ a major free update for Warframe that continues the game’s ongoing story. This update lets players revisit a past conflict in the Tau system, introducing new enemies and two new game modes – The Perita Rebellion and The Descendia. It also adds Uriel, the 63rd playable Warframe, expands existing abilities, and improves the game’s graphics, along with other new content.
As a Warframe player, I’ve been so excited for the Tau update, and it feels like exploring its history is really setting things up for what’s coming next in the Origin System and beyond! If you’re a returning player who finished ‘The Lotus Eaters,’ you can now start a new Quest called ‘The Old Peace’ – it continues the awesome Void War story we all love. For new players, you can jump in by completing ‘The Teacher’ Quest, which unlocks two new ways to play: Descendia and The Perita Rebellion. Just be aware there are some matchmaking restrictions and a little bit of story stuff revealed, so check the patch notes for details. If you want to know exactly what quests you need to finish first, there’s a handy guide available with all the prerequisites.
According to Creative Director Rebecca Ford, the new update, ‘The Old Peace,’ aims to fully explain the story and meaning behind ‘Warframe.’ It will delve into the history of the Tau system, a mystery the ‘Warframe’ community has been eager to uncover for years. The update also includes updated visuals for the Operator, allowing the team to better express the emotional depth of the game’s narrative as they continue to develop its unique and human-centered world. Ford expressed her gratitude for the talented team that made this ambitious project possible.
Additional details on new content arriving in The Old Peace
Explore long-forgotten memories in The Old Peace quest. Return to the Tau moon of Perita and remember the delicate truce between the Orokin and Sentients. Experience the Operator’s past through war-torn recollections and work with a childhood friend, Adis, to reveal the horrors and sadness of Tau’s history.
In the new Perita Rebellion game mode, you’ll have 12 minutes to complete objectives and race against the clock. Choose from three different missions and face off against The Anarchs – a dangerous new enemy group composed of Dax, Grineer, and even captured Prime Warframes. When time runs out, you’ll battle one of three challenging bosses. Complete as many objectives as possible and find hidden collectibles to gain temporary boosts, defeat the powerful enemies, and earn valuable rewards.
Explore a treacherous, multi-layered tower in the new game mode, Descendia. Battle through 21 challenging floors, each modified by unique Penances. You’ll find occasional safe floors where you can rest and even return to floors seven or fourteen to meet members of The Devil’s Triad for a temporary Blessing. The tower’s layout changes weekly, offering fresh challenges and rewards, so return before it resets!
Discover the newest Protoframes, individuals touched by a dark fate and connected to The Devil’s Triad. Introduced last year in the Warframe: 1999 update, Protoframes are people undergoing a transformation into Warframes. This time, three new Protoframes – Lyon, Marie, and Roathe – have been sent to the past by Dr. Entrati with a mission to right the wrongs of a treacherous enemy. Get to know them through an expanded romance and relationship system, and if you make the right choices, you can even unlock special Captura Dates.
Take control of Uriel, the 63rd Warframe—a powerful demon commander—and master the Bayonet, a brand-new weapon type. Unleash devastating attacks in The Devil’s Triad by summoning three lesser demons to fight alongside you, then strike from above like a fiery meteor. The Bayonet is a unique hybrid weapon, functioning as both a primary weapon and a melee weapon. You can unlock Uriel and the first Bayonet, Vinquibus, instantly with Platinum, or earn them through gameplay by collecting blueprints and resources in Descendia.
Remember Tauron Strikes, the powerful special attacks from the original Focus School? Now, each of the five Focus Schools will have a unique, game-changing Ultimate ability to help win battles. Get ready to wield Vexoric, a sharp blade, Cogron, a powerful hammer, Thara, a precise bow, Nidri, a holy staff, and Lorak, a potent spellbook.
Get back into the Operator’s seat and design incredible new looks with the Operator/Drifter Graphical Remaster! This update includes completely redesigned characters and tons of new customization options. You can now fine-tune both characters’ appearances with expanded choices for makeup, skin tone, eyebrows, beards, hair, and more. Plus, you can now choose a body type that’s separate from the facial features, giving you even more control over character creation.
Discover the latest Prime Warframe and weapons to restore the power of the Orokin Empire! Gyre, a swift and resilient Warframe, is now Prime, offering boosted health, shields, and speed. Alongside Gyre, you can unlock two new Prime weapons: the powerful Alternox rifle and the throwing Kestrel glaive. You can also rediscover forgotten relics from the Grineer’s golden age with the Galariak scythe and Sagek pistol, both now available in Prime form. These new Primes can be instantly purchased with Platinum in the Warframe Marketplace, or earned through regular gameplay.
Express yourself like never before in Warframe with new ways to customize your profile! Earn unique player titles called Honoria by completing challenges – they’ll show up everywhere, from loading screens to your in-game profile. You can also trade resources to Roathe from The Devil’s Triad to get Honoria. Plus, check out the new Medeina Collection, featuring Voruna, a beautifully redesigned Warframe inspired by Art Nouveau. You can instantly unlock Voruna’s deluxe skin in the Warframe Marketplace using Platinum.
Don’t miss The Game Awards 2025 on December 11th to see a brand new trailer from Digital Extremes! It’s a celebration of the launch of the next big story update for Warframe.
