A tech show in Iran is getting a lot of attention online after people realized the ‘robots’ being presented were actually people in very detailed costumes.

We’re quickly entering the future that science fiction used to only dream about. With self-driving cars becoming common, AI generating incredibly realistic videos, and companies preparing to sell sophisticated robots, society is changing at a rapid pace.

While technology is rapidly evolving, some tech companies are struggling to keep up, particularly when it comes to robotics.

A technology show in Iran recently caused an online stir when it displayed robots that turned out not to be robots at all, disappointing both fans and potential investors.

AI-powered ‘robots’ at tech expo were merely actors in costume

The Kish Inox Tech Expo is a yearly event held on the island of Kish in Iran. Kish is known as a high-end resort destination, offering vacations, upscale shopping, and major exhibitions.

According to the official Tech Expo website, the event is designed to help companies display their products, find funding, and build partnerships.

This year’s Expo heavily featured new and upcoming technologies, but some of those products weren’t quite ready for prime time.

People at the Expo were surprised to see what were billed as high-tech robots. However, it quickly became clear that these ‘robots’ were actually people in disguises, wearing costumes to look like machines.

It turns out the humanoid robots unveiled at a technology fair in Iran weren’t robots at all – they were people in disguise. This revelation stunned scientists and AI experts.

The actors wore plain white suits covered in ones and zeros—a nod to computer code—and responded to questions by reading prepared statements.

When people at the expo asked what they were, the actors described themselves as a team of data, all working together with code, and able to do things related to artificial intelligence.

It turned out the actors weren’t working for the Iranian government; they were actually there to advertise a private company.

Hossein Afshin, a top science and technology official in Iran, told Zoomit news that the people involved in the recent incident weren’t officially connected to the Kish Inox Tech Expo.

He stated that one of the companies involved did this purely for publicity and therefore has no issue with taking responsibility. He clarified that the organizers of the Innotex Kish exhibition were not behind the idea of using people as robots.

So, I just saw this hilarious video online – another robot totally messed up! Apparently, this AI bot from a Russian company was being shown off in mid-November, and it literally tripped and fell immediately after they started the demo. It’s gone viral, and honestly, it’s pretty funny to watch.

But some robots are achieving remarkable feats – for example, a humanoid robot built in China recently walked 100 kilometers without any help, setting a new world record.
