Since 1977, Star Wars has captivated audiences and become a hugely influential part of our culture – arguably the most famous science fiction universe ever made. It’s inspired countless other works, including the Renegades expansion for Destiny 2. A Star Wars-themed addition like Renegades wouldn’t be complete without a lightsaber-like weapon, and thankfully, it delivers. However, obtaining the Praxic Blade requires solving a tricky orb puzzle during the Fire and Ice mission. If you’re finding it difficult, this guide will help you get this unique weapon.
Getting Praxic Blade in Destiny 2 Renegades
Bungie, the company that originally made Halo, has been facing some transitions lately. They recently lost their CEO and are now focusing more on their Marathon franchise, though development hasn’t been easy. Despite this, they’re still supporting their popular game, Destiny 2. The new Renegades expansion lets players experience a ‘lightsaber’-like weapon called the Praxic Blade. Getting it requires completing the Fire and Ice quest, which includes some tricky puzzle sections involving orbs.
To get the Praxic Blade, you’ll need to complete a mission with a lot of jumping and platforming. Eventually, you’ll reach an arena with four floating orbs – two black (Darkness Blight) and two white (Light Blight). Your goal is to make these orbs grow at the same rate. You do this by defeating the Cleaved Centurion enemies that keep appearing. These enemies come in two types: Taken and Imperium. The order in which you defeat them is crucial, as it determines what kind of energy will drop.
The general rules of the puzzle are as follows:
- Defeating 2 Centurions of the same kind will grant you Paired Energy, which fuels Blights of Light (white orbs)
- Getting rid of a Taken and then an Imperium (or the other way around) will make them drop Opposite Energy, which can make Blights of Darkness (black orbs) grow.
- The Blights (large orbs) must grow in balance in pairs. This means that you need to alternate your Energy balls throws between two Blights. As soon as the difference between them is greater than 2, they will reset the puzzle making you start again.
- Keep track of information in the left corner of the screen. It will notice you when the orbs are off balance.
Once you’ve powered both Blights, you can proceed with your quest, but there’s one more challenge. When the Disciple of Harrow is close to defeat, you’ll need to grow the Blights again, but this time you’ll have to actively create the enemies. You’ll need to manually summon both enemy types by interacting with the triangular, floating Balanced Octants above the arena. You can reach these Octants by jumping on the floating stone platforms. Activating the Octants will spawn enemies you can defeat to gain Energy and feed the Blights. Otherwise, the process is identical to the previous puzzle.
Okay, so I finally finished the Fire and Ice quest, and now I’ve got my hands on the Praxic Blade – that exotic weapon I’ve been chasing! But honestly, Renegades is packed with awesome Star Wars stuff. I’m having a blast trying to find all the little references hidden throughout the game. It’s super fun!
