Honkai Star Rail 3.8 Livestream: New Character, Banners & Story Updates

Honkai: Star Rail’s 3.8 update is coming soon, and a special presentation will likely share all the details, including the new character Dahlia, returning character banners, and story additions. Version 3.8 is expected to be the last major update of the year, paving the way for Version 4.0 and a journey to a new world with the Astral Express. This new world might also introduce a different version of Himeko in Honkai: Star Rail.

So, after finishing up the whole Amphoreus storyline, we’re getting Version 3.8! Even though the Astral Express dealt with the big problem in the Eternal Land, it looks like there’s still plenty to do. I’m hearing whispers about a new boss coming in 3.8, and apparently, this boss might be connected to one of the characters we can actually play as and their personal story – pretty exciting!

Honkai: Star Rail 3.8 Livestream – Date & Time

Version 3.8 Will Likely Arrive In Mid-December

Good news for players! The details for the next Honkai: Star Rail update, version 3.8, should be revealed soon with a livestream. Considering the game usually gets updates every six weeks, we can expect the new patch around December 17th. Livestreams typically happen two weeks beforehand, on Friday mornings, so the Honkai: Star Rail 3.8 livestream is likely scheduled for December 5th in the morning.

Currently, there’s no indication that the 3.8 update will be delayed, so the planned livestream should happen as scheduled. Typically, a postponed livestream suggests a delay in the update itself. Players can expect version 3.8 to launch on time, but a recent Reddit leak hints that future updates, such as version 4.0, might be pushed back.

What To Expect From Honkai: Star Rail 3.8 Livestream – New Character & Leaked Banners

The Dahlia May Buff Super Break DMG Teams

The upcoming livestream for Version 3.8 of Honkai: Star Rail is expected to reveal details about the new character, The Dahlia. The livestream should showcase her abilities, which have been previewed in leaks, but will be the final version after adjustments from beta testing. HoYoverse has confirmed that The Dahlia is a 5-star Fire character who uses the Nihility path, though they haven’t yet shared specifics about how she plays.

Okay, so from what I’m seeing in the leaks, this new character, The Dahlia, looks like she’s gonna be a support character who can also deal some damage. It seems like she’ll be really good in teams focused on breaking enemy weaknesses, especially with Firefly. Basically, she can create an area where my team breaks weaknesses more easily, and if enemies aren’t getting broken, she turns that into extra super damage! Sounds pretty awesome for maximizing damage output.

This allows her to activate a damage boost before an enemy is even vulnerable, making her incredibly valuable for characters who focus on dealing extra damage when enemies are weak. Additionally, she can team up with an ally and give enemies new weaknesses based on that ally’s element.

The Dahlia is likely to become a more popular choice than Ruan Mei in strong team compositions, even though Ruan Mei can make enemies vulnerable for longer. This change could also make Firefly, Boothill, and Rappa teams more effective and commonly used in the current game environment.

The Version 3.8 livestream will showcase The Dahlia and her combat skills, and also announce which characters will have their banners rerun. While there haven’t been many trustworthy leaks about the banners, it’s likely that Phase 1 will feature Firefly, Lingsha, or Rappa, considering how well they work with The Dahlia and how often rerun banners happen.

Rumors suggest that the next set of banners (Phase 2) might bring back Fugue, Lingsha, and Yunli, characters who haven’t been available for a long time. This would be especially helpful for players trying to build strong teams, as Fugue is essential for maximizing damage in Super Break teams.

What To Expect From Honkai: Star Rail 3.8 Livestream – Story Updates, Quests, & More

There May Be Quests Involving The Dahlia & Firefly

Although the Amphoreus storyline has finished, we’ll still be adding new main campaign missions in Version 3.8. The recent leaks suggest the new boss in this update is connected to Firefly’s history, and may be related to The Dahlia, who will appear in the Ever-Flame Mansion. When The Dahlia is introduced, she’ll come with her own quests, which could reveal how she managed to survive the attack on the Ever-Flame Mansion.

Beyond new story content – though it won’t be as large as a major story arc – players can also look forward to limited-time events with each update. These events will offer opportunities to collect materials and Stellar Jade, helping players get ready for Version 4.0. Details about these events are typically shared during livestreams, and you can expect a full reveal during the Honkai: Star Rail 3.8 livestream.
