Arc Raiders devs patch infamous door exploit in the best way possible

Arc Raiders just received a surprisingly funny patch from Embark Studios. It addresses a well-known glitch that players had been reporting for weeks – a bug that caused doors to become permanently stuck closed.

A glitch involving locked doors allows players to pass through normally inaccessible areas by maneuvering close to the doorframe at a specific angle. This quickly became a popular way to bypass enemies or collect items without needing to find the key or unlock the door.

This flaw has been in the game since it first came out, and players repeatedly asked the developers to fix it with every major update. It became a running joke within the community – everyone assumed it would be patched eventually, but it always managed to stay in the game. Finally, the team fixed it, and they did it perfectly.

The latest Arc Raiders hot fix finally stops locked door exploit

Rather than fixing the problem with the locked door, Embark Studios has implemented a harsh solution: players who try to exploit it will now be immediately transported into the room, where they’ll be instantly killed by fire. This doesn’t prevent the exploit, but severely punishes those who attempt it.

Embark wasn’t kidding around when they wrote “a very hot fix for the locked room exploits” 😭

The latest update includes fixes to prevent players from exploiting a glitch in locked rooms on all maps. While the patch notes simply state the fix, players are finding the results hilarious – and are now understandably reluctant to try the exploit again.

Players are praising a game for intentionally leaving in a bug. One player wrote, “This is beautiful. I love that they didn’t fix the glitch because they knew we wouldn’t stop playing.” Another explained that this approach – letting the bug remain rather than fixing it, potentially leading to a loss or death for the player – is a classic game development technique they’ve been wanting to see again, calling it ‘true game development at its core’ being brought back to life.

Some players have suggested trying to enter the area with full health and wearing purple armor to see if it immediately opens the door and disables the flamethrowers. It’s unclear if this will work, but you’ll need to act fast to avoid getting burned by the recent, amusing update to the flamethrowers.
