The creators of the next Battlefield game have responded to fan concerns about potentially silly or unusual character customizations after a leaked design received some negative feedback.
As Call of Duty and Fortnite offer increasingly outlandish in-game items, many Battlefield fans are hoping the next installment, Battlefield 6, will focus on a more realistic approach to customization.
The recent beta test was very popular, but people have been trying to find out details about the upcoming game. One leak revealed a character skin with a noticeable amount of bright, neon green coloring.
Some players immediately criticized the bright, neon colors, while others encouraged fans to voice their disapproval. One fan explained that EA will keep adding cosmetic items as long as players accept them, and it’s better to object now, before more extreme additions are made, rather than waiting until something like a Santa Claus outfit is introduced.
Battlefield fans are expressing disappointment with leaked images of potential new skins for the next game, Battlefield 6. Many feel the designs are too unrealistic and don’t fit the game’s style.

Battlefield 6 is going to be a “gritty” shooter
Many players expressed their disapproval of the leaked skin, and although the developers responded, they confirmed they’re still planning to create more skins with a realistic and rough style.
We’re pleased with the direction the game is taking,” said Christian Buhl, technical director at Ripple Effect. “We’re aiming for a realistic and intense shooting experience, and we believe other games should be free to explore their own unique styles.
We’re pleased with how the game is shaping up. We’re aiming for a realistic and intense shooting experience, and that’s the style we plan to maintain for the foreseeable future.

Matthew Nickerso, a lead designer on the game, explained that the new Battlefield will initially focus on establishing its own unique identity rather than immediately trying to compete with other games.
As a Battlefield fan, it’s great to hear the designers aren’t just copying what other games are doing! They’re really concentrating on what makes Battlefield special and what works best for *this* game. They’re not worried about chasing the latest trends or trying to be like everyone else. They’re sticking to their strengths and focusing on delivering a true Battlefield experience, and that’s exactly what I want to see!
Buhl acknowledged that information leaks are inevitable. Although the development team isn’t intentionally releasing things prematurely, they find the leaked information helpful as feedback.
We didn’t want information about the game to be leaked, but our top priority was getting it into the hands of players. We needed their honest feedback and data, even if that meant leaks were inevitable.
