Most game demos offer a small preview – a brief section of the story or one level to try. But the demo for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is different. It’s so engaging and replayable that you can easily spend many hours – even hundreds – playing it like a complete game.
According to Denis Fedorov, CEO of Unfrozen studio, some players have already spent over 200 hours playing the game’s trial version. This is thanks to a random map generator that creates a nearly endless amount of unique gameplay experiences. The developer explains that players can enjoy “dozens or even hundreds of hours” with different map setups without getting repetitive, and this variety is also a key feature of the multiplayer mode.
The demo for Olden Era proved incredibly popular, with data showing it became the most-played strategy game demo in SteamDB history. At its peak, over 24,000 people were playing it simultaneously.
Even though the community was very excited, Fedorov, the studio’s CEO, cautioned that things wouldn’t be flawless during the Early Access period.
The PC game Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era will now be released in 2026, later than its originally planned release date this year.
