Simon Collins-Laflamme, the director of Hytale, announced that the game’s upcoming early access release will be very affordable. He explained that after rescuing the project from being cancelled, charging a higher price for the current version didn’t feel appropriate.
Collins-Laflamme announced on X that after buying the game back from Riot, Hypixel rebuilt it with a team of about 50 developers. They took a considerable personal risk to revive the game.
Simon says Hytale “is not good yet” but the team aims to make it great
The game isn’t quite where we want it yet, but my team and I are working hard to improve it and make it truly excellent. We have a clear idea of what we want to achieve, and development has been moving much faster since we took the project back from Riot.

On November 21st, Hytale’s official X (formerly Twitter) account announced the game will cost $19.99. This was in response to a comment from Collins-Laflamme.

He explained that the affordable price is meant to let as many people as possible play Hytale, ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity to participate as the game moves into a new stage of development.
On November 17, Collins-Laflamme announced that he had purchased Hytale from Riot Games, expressing his gratitude to the League of Legends company for their cooperation in the deal.
