An ARC Raiders player recently amassed a huge collection of rubber ducks – hundreds, in fact – but couldn’t find a place to show them off in the game. It seems the developers at Embark Studios noticed this quirky situation! The latest update now lets players proudly display their “yellow army.” Beyond that, the update includes improvements to game balance and fixes several bugs in the popular shooter.
Ducks take over the hideout
The developers of ARC Raiders have announced a fun surprise for players: if you’ve been collecting rubber ducks in the game, you’ll now find them decorating your hideout! Your base will be filled with these yellow collectibles as a thank you to the community for their enthusiasm. While it’s unclear exactly how many ducks are needed to trigger this, the team at Embark Studios clearly enjoyed adding this playful feature.
Team slayer nerfed
This update includes significant changes to weapon balance, most notably a reduction in power for the Venator pistol. The developers noted that the Venator had become overly powerful, letting players easily eliminate entire teams. To address this, they’ve slowed down its firing rate and increased its weight – from 2 to 5 – to match other pistols. The goal is to keep the Venator a strong weapon, but encourage players to use it more strategically in fights.
Changes in equipment and explosions
Several important changes also affect items.
- Deadline – its purchase price has been increased (from 8100 to 15,000 coins), the selling cost has been changed, and the crafting recipe and availability from traders have been completely overhauled.
- Launcher ammo – the number of rounds in a purchasable package has been reduced (from 10 to 6), the price has been lowered, and the crafting ingredients have been modified. What’s important, crafting ammunition no longer requires a blueprint.
- Power Cell – its selling value has been significantly reduced (from 640 to 270).
We’ve updated how explosions work. They now do less damage to larger targets, such as Bastions, making matches feel more consistent. Smaller objects, like turrets, shouldn’t see a big change. We’ve also tweaked the Hullcracker’s power to ensure it’s well-balanced.
Map fixes and Shredder improvements
The developers have made several improvements to various maps, especially Stella Montis, which became available last week. These changes include removing areas where two players could respawn too close to enemy squads, resolving problems with players getting stuck, and fixing general collision issues.
The game has been updated to improve Shredder’s behavior – it’s now better at reacting to decoys and moves with more fluidity.
Update reception
The update announcement on X received a lot of enthusiastic responses. Players are really looking forward to displaying more ducks in their hideouts. However, some players expressed concern, particularly about the recent changes made to the Venator. One user pointed out:
It remains to be seen, but I worry that slowing down the Venator will make the game too difficult for players who play alone. It’ll likely be much harder to escape, particularly when lots of players are near the evacuation zone. Adjusting the weapon’s damage range might have been a better solution.
This is just a glimpse of the changes in update 1.3.0 – a complete list is available on the game’s website.
