Charli XCX Mocks the Pop-Star Doc

According to her Letterboxd account, Charli XCX watched the Christopher Guest mockumentary For Your Consideration on September 6, 2024, while she was fully immersed in the “brat” aesthetic. She gave it a perfect five-star rating. Some fans have wondered if that film influenced her new project, The Moment – a teaser for which debuted on November 20th. The teaser shows behind-the-scenes footage from her recent tour and features Charli playing a comedic, exaggerated version of herself, obsessively trying to manage the “brat” trend. She dramatically declares, “Nothing is more important than Brat.” Comedian Tessa Belle jokingly suggested on the StraightioLab podcast that Charli XCX is becoming the new Judd Apatow. The chaotic trailer, set to music by A.G. Cook, includes a moment of silence before a mannequin falls from the ceiling and breaks. Charli XCX then asks, worried, “Is that supposed to be me?” – and the answer is yes.

Charli XCX’s upcoming film boasts a star-studded cast, including Kylie Jenner performing a popular dance, Rachel Sennott playfully clashing with the filmmakers, and director Hailey Benton Gates predicting chaos. The movie will also feature a diverse group of influential figures from various fields. Alongside professional actors like Alexander Skarsgård, Isaac Cole Powell, and Rosanna Arquette, the film includes comedians Kate Berlant, Jamie Demetriou, and Richard Perez, plus notable personalities like Interview magazine’s Mel Ottenberg. Directed by Aidan Zamiri, a frequent collaborator on Charli’s music videos, and co-written with satirist Bertie Brandes, the film originated from an idea by Charli herself. Produced by A24, it hits theaters on January 30, 2026, and is being described as a true sequel to This Is Spinal Tap.
