I was so excited when Omelet You Cook came out on Steam a few months ago – it was made by just two people! It didn’t become a huge hit, but it was amazing because every single review was positive. Seriously, 100%! But yesterday, that streak ended. Someone finally gave it a negative review, which is… well, kind of shocking!
First negative review
The positive feedback for Omelet You Cook isn’t just due to a small number of reviews. They’ve actually received over 500 opinions, which is a significant amount.
The game has been incredibly well-received, which makes it even more disappointing that its first negative review came out yesterday. Surprisingly, the person who wrote it actually believes Omelet You Cook is a great name for the game!
Game is amazing. I just like to be different.
Steam is known for its humorous reviews, but it was surprisingly upsetting to see a long run of overwhelmingly positive feedback finally end. Dan Schumacher, a developer for Omelet You Cook, told PC Gamer in an email that while he expected it to happen eventually, it still felt disappointing.
It’s amazing we got so many positive reviews! Achieving 100% positivity with this many reviews is extremely unusual – only one game on Steam had more reviews and maintained a perfect score. Some people think the person leaving all the positive reviews might be trying to earn Steam points – apparently, those little reaction icons give you currency on the platform! We always expected our perfect streak to end eventually, but it’s a little disappointing to see it broken by someone who actually enjoys the game.
Even with one critical review, Omelet You Cook still seems like a game worth trying. It’s a fast-paced “chaotic culinary roguelike” where you make breakfast for customers with ingredients flying at you on a conveyor belt. The creators were inspired by popular games like Balatro, Luck Be a Landlord, and Ballionaire.
You can get Omelet You Cook on Steam for $9.59 right now until November 25th. A free demo is also available to try.
