Where Winds Meet blends dramatic storylines with mystery and betrayal, but isn’t shy about including shocking or outrageous moments. This mix of intense emotions and unbelievable situations creates a unique experience. You might be trying to rescue loved ones one moment, and then unexpectedly encounter a horse in a bizarre scenario the next.
Dalang isn’t an ordinary horse – its powerful build is immediately noticeable. It’s easy to see why Yi Dao wanted you to deal with it first. Dalang will be tough to take down, so let’s discuss the best way to defeat it.
Where To Find Dalang

Dalang is a key boss you’ll face in the ‘Heaven Has No Pier’ mission chapter. This chapter centers around rescuing Beard Guang and Ruby after your Aunt Han mysteriously vanishes and becomes entangled in a deepening mystery.
You try to reach the outpost where your friends are held captive. Yi Dao wants a direct attack, believing stealth will only delay things. However, you choose to deceive the guards, pretending to be on a mission to kill Dalang as a distraction. This allows you to slip inside and rescue Guang and Ruby.
Naturally, things didn’t go as expected. We found ourselves cornered with Dalang’s keeper, who was frantically calling for help, and they managed to burst through the doors. And there was Dalang, looking imposing, prepared to charge.
How To Beat Dalang
Just a heads up before you begin: this battle happens in two stages. It’s smart to save your healing abilities for the second phase, as you don’t want to use them all during the first. Here’s a guide to help you win both parts of the fight.
Phase One
During the first stage of the fight, both Dalang and the Horse-Tamer will be present. It might seem smart to target the Horse-Tamer first, thinking it could make Dalang easier to defeat, but don’t bother – you can’t actually beat the Horse-Tamer. Just avoid them completely. They’ll attack if you get too close, but they’ll generally stay back and let Dalang handle the fighting.
Focus all your efforts on Dalang, as they have the health bar. You can deflect almost all of their attacks, and that’s the key to winning. Dalang moves around a lot, making it tricky to keep up, but consistently deflect their attacks to reduce their Qi. When they pause, take the opportunity to attack as much as possible.
Okay, so here’s what I’ve learned: once you’ve drained an enemy’s Qi, really pile on the attacks before you use your Execute move. They’re basically stuck and can’t do anything until they get their Qi back, so it’s the perfect time to do some serious damage!
Dalang usually attacks by rushing in and kicking, but most of these attacks are easy to anticipate. Their most powerful attack is a roundhouse kick that they can deliver very quickly. They generally only attempt this kick when an opponent is nearby, so stay alert!
Okay, so Dalang has this super dangerous attack – a glowing red slam. Basically, they jump way up and come crashing down, then do a bunch of follow-up slams. The key to dodging it is timing your deflect just as they’re about to hit the ground. It’s tricky because they glow red for a bit beforehand, which makes you want to deflect early, but that’s a trap! Don’t fall for the glow and mistime it.
Phase Two
During the second part of the battle, the Horse-Tamer sacrifices themself to revive Dalang, leaving you to face them alone. The fight will feel largely the same, but Dalang will have longer attack combinations and be more actively aggressive.
The biggest update is to Dalang’s red slam attack. It starts similarly to before, but now lasts longer and has a more unpredictable rhythm. Importantly, the attack now includes additional ground-based attacks. These slams cover a fairly wide area, so try to dodge them if you can’t deflect. Remember, red attacks can’t be blocked.
This part of the battle is similar to before, except the Horse-Tamer is gone. The most challenging aspect is avoiding attacks, but feel free to shoot arrows at Dalang when they’re far away to slowly reduce their health.
Martial Arts are also great at reducing Qi, so use them as much as you can.
