Brendan Greene, known as ‘PlayerUnknown’ and the creator of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, has spent the last four years developing his new open-world survival game, Prologue: Go Wayback!. Today, the game is launching into early access, allowing players to experience its challenges from home.
Prologue puts you in the middle of a constantly changing world. Each time you play, the map is different, and even the weather shifts, forcing you to adapt to survive. You’ll need to manage your thirst, hunger, and temperature as you try to reach a weather tower. There are multiple ways to achieve your goal, but many ways to fail, so careful choices are key.
To celebrate the launch, PlayerUnknown Productions is adding some new options for players. Before each game, you’ll be able to adjust the weather, temperature, and time of day, letting you customize how challenging the experience is.
The game has a standard mode called Go Wayback!, but for a real challenge, there’s Objective: Survive, which gives you very limited resources. If you’d rather just explore without worrying about survival as much, try Free Roam. Just be careful – you can still die if you fall from a high place!
A really cool new feature is the map editor. It allows you to either upload an image to create a custom world, or design your own maps from scratch.
We’re planning future updates that will add more realistic and changing weather, a crafting system to create items from resources you find, and climbing equipment. Players will also need to maintain their clothing and gear by repairing them as they wear and tear.
Prologue: Go Wayback! is now available for $20 on Steam and Epic Games Store.
