Fans of Frieren can look forward to a sneak peek at Season 2, which will premiere on November 20, 2025.
A new trailer for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 will be released before the show premieres in January 2026. The streaming service announced at Anime Expo 2025 that Season 2 will be part of its Winter 2025 lineup.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 — Everything We Know So Far
Season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End follows the continuing, bittersweet journey of Frieren, a beautiful and immortal elf mage. After losing a close friend to the short lifespan of humans, she embarks on a path of self-discovery. Joining her is Fern, her endearing magical apprentice who has been traveling with her since childhood.
Season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will have a new director, Tomoya Kitagawa, who previously worked as a storyboard artist and episode director on Season 1. Keiichiro Saito, who directed Season 1 and also worked on Bocchi the Rock!, will now serve as the supervising director for Season 2.
More staff working on Frieren Season 2 have been announced. Daiki Harashina will be assistant director, while Tomohiro Suzuki is handling series composition. Takasemaru is in charge of character designs, with Keisuke Kojima and Yuri Fujinaka also contributing to animation. Seiko Yoshioka is creating concept art. Evan Call is returning to compose the music for the new season.
Finally, Atsumi Tanezaki is back to voice Frieren in Season 2. She had reduced her work earlier this year because of health issues, but reassured fans she would continue her role.
The first season of Frieren had 28 episodes and aired on Crunchyroll from September 29, 2023, to March 22, 2024. You can now purchase the entire season on Blu-ray and DVD. A special limited edition version, complete with exclusive collectibles and bonus features, is available at the Crunchyroll Store.
The story of Frieren begins after a group of heroes triumphs over the Demon King, bringing peace to the realm, but then returning to separate lives. Years later, the elf mage Frieren confronts the reality of human life spans. She takes on an apprentice and dedicates herself to honoring the last requests of her companions. The series explores whether an immortal elf can truly understand and accept the cycle of life and death as Frieren sets out on a journey to discover the answer.
