Wicked: For Good Box Office Could Smash Its First Record This Weekend

The movie Wicked: For Good is predicted to be a big hit, potentially breaking box office records soon after its release on November 21st. The film tells the story of the complex friendship between the Wicked Witch of the West, played by Cynthia Erivo, and Glinda the Good Witch, played by Ariana Grande, continuing the narrative from the popular Broadway musical.

According to Variety, the movie Wicked: For Good is expected to make between $150 and $180 million during its opening weekend in the United States and Canada. If it reaches the higher end of that estimate, it would be the biggest domestic opening of 2025, surpassing A Minecraft Movie ($162 million) and the live-action Lilo & Stitch ($146 million).

Even at the low end of predictions, the new movie Wicked: For Good is expected to easily beat the opening weekend box office of this year’s Wicked, which made $112.5 million domestically and $758.8 million worldwide.

Based on early numbers, Wicked: For Good has the potential to become a billion-dollar film, possibly earning between $1.012 billion and $1.214 billion. If it does, it would be the third movie this year to reach that milestone, following Lilo & Stitch ($1.038 billion) and the Chinese blockbuster Ne Zha 2 ($1.902 billion).
