As a TikTok user, I’m really excited they’ve just launched a new feature! Now I can finally control how much AI-created content shows up in my For You Page – I can either reduce it if I’m not a fan, or even see more of it if I like it. It’s great to have that control!
TikTok has always marked videos created entirely by AI, or those with AI-generated parts. Viewers will notice a small banner on the side of the screen indicating the video might not be authentic.
Despite our efforts, some AI-generated videos still manage to avoid detection. A recent example is the popular TikTok videos from Basin Creek retirement home, which went viral around Halloween. It wasn’t immediately obvious they were AI-created – people had to actively search for confirmation. When viewers discovered the videos weren’t real, many were deeply disappointed.
TikTok users have been asking for ways to identify videos created with artificial intelligence, and now the platform is delivering. At the same time, TikTok is also offering tools that allow creators to make their own AI videos.
You can choose to see more, or fewer, AI videos on TikTok
TikTok is now giving users more control over the AI-generated content they see. With the new Manage Topics feature, you can choose how much of this type of content appears in your feed.
Our existing ‘Manage Topics’ feature lets users control how often they see posts about things like dance, sports, or food. This new setting for AI-generated content works the same way – it helps people customize their feed without getting rid of any posts altogether, as explained in a blog post on November 19th.
This allows users who enjoy AI-created historical content to see more of it, while those who prefer less can easily reduce the amount they see.

The platform is developing a way to secretly mark content created by AI, but it will rely on users to report videos they think might be AI-generated.
In the next few weeks, TikTok will begin adding hidden watermarks to content created using its AI tools, such as AI Editor Pro, and to content uploaded with C2PA Content Credentials. These watermarks will help TikTok identify and label AI-generated content and track any edits made to it.
