Vampire Survivors sparked a wave of similar games, and Halls of Torment is a standout title in this growing genre, often called ‘arena survival’. It first came out on computers last September, and is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Players with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Premium, or PC Game Pass, can play it starting today.
Similar to Vampire Survivors, Halls of Torment is a top-down action game where you fight waves of enemies and powerful bosses in dangerous halls. Each character has unique abilities and a fighting style, so success depends on utilizing those strengths while constantly staying in motion.
We’re facing overwhelming odds, with many more enemies than we can handle, and tough boss battles to boot. Luckily, between each attempt, we can rest at a camp to improve our gear, level up, and prepare for what’s next.
While not revolutionary, Halls of Torment is proving to be very popular and well-received. Developed by Chasing Carrots, the game has earned “overwhelmingly positive” reviews on Steam and currently boasts a 95/100 rating, having already surpassed one million players over a year ago.
