Amazon has the gray version of 8BitDo’s popular, updated Nintendo 64 controller back in stock for $45. This new color matches the original N64 controller released in 1996. The 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller first became available last August for $40 in black and white. While the gray version costs $5 more, it looks fantastic. It connects wirelessly to a variety of devices, including Analogue 3D, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PC, Apple devices, and Android phones.
The new 8BitDo 64 controller was created with Analogue, a company known for making retro gaming hardware. It’s the official wireless controller for the Analogue 3D, a high-quality console that plays Nintendo 64 games in 4K. The Analogue 3D finally became available in November after several delays. Both the white and black versions are now back in stock on Analogue’s website for $270. Keep in mind that the console doesn’t include a controller, and the 8BitDo 64 is currently the only wireless controller officially supported.
If your 8BitDo 64 controller isn’t connecting to your Switch 2 or Analogue 3D, first check that it has the newest firmware update. For Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members, the 8BitDo 64 offers a comfortable grip and is a cheaper alternative to the official N64 controller available in the Nintendo Store.

The Analogue 3D is a Nintendo 64 console that plays games from any region – North America, Japan, and Europe. It even supports games that originally needed the Expansion Pak, like The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask and Donkey Kong 64. Because it uses FPGA technology, the Analogue 3D feels just like playing on original N64 hardware. The picture quality is dramatically improved, with HDMI output allowing for up to 4K resolution (it also supports 1080p). Like other Analogue consoles, it offers lots of customizable display settings, including different aspect ratios. It also has the Expansion Pak built right in.
The Analogue 3D works with all your original N64 accessories and lets you connect up to four official Nintendo 64 controllers – though you’ll need to supply those controllers yourself. If you don’t have any old N64 controllers, affordable wired options are available that have the classic three-pronged design. We suggest the Hyperkin Captain, which comes in both translucent and solid colors. Amazon currently has five different colors of the Hyperkin Captain available for between $20 and $23.
The 8BitDo 64 controller is the only one that natively works wirelessly with the Analogue 3D system. However, you can also connect standard wireless controllers for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, or Xbox to both the Analogue 3D and original Nintendo 64 consoles using an adapter like the Bitfunx BlueRetro N64 Wireless Controller Adapter.
