Tron: Ares
Joachim Rønning, 119 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=YShVEXb7-ic
The Tron films remain strangely popular – they have dedicated fans, but haven’t consistently earned enough at the box office to cover their costs. The latest installment, starring Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and Jodie Turner-Smith, flips the premise of the original 1980s movie. Instead of a human entering a digital world, this time an AI named Ares comes into our reality. It remains to be seen if this new film will achieve lasting appeal like its predecessor, or fade away as just another unremarkable sequel. Regardless, the soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails is excellent.

Christy
David Michôd, 135 minutes

Sydney Sweeney is everywhere lately, with new projects and interviews appearing constantly. Her latest role was meant to be a breakthrough performance, where she portrays Christy Martin, a highly successful professional boxer from the 1990s. While Martin was a public figure, she privately suffered from domestic abuse at the hands of her husband and coach, who attempted to kill her in 2010. Unfortunately, the film didn’t do well in theaters, earning only $2 million, but with Sweeney’s increasing popularity, it’s likely to find a wider audience now.
Keeper
Osgood Perkins, 99 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=L1EeA-OihKA
The director of The Monkey and Longlegs is quickly becoming a go-to for Neon’s horror films, and is already working on another project with the company. His latest movie follows a couple (played by Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland) who venture to a secluded cabin – a classic horror setup. While it hasn’t received as much attention as some of his other recent work with Neon, horror fans often discover and champion films once they’re released for home viewing.

It Was Just an Accident
Jafar Panahi, 104 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=nF04v-ze2Yc
Jafar Panahi’s latest film is generating Oscar buzz and promises to introduce a wider audience to his extraordinary career. Despite being placed under house arrest in 2010 and forbidden from making movies by the Iranian government, Panahi continued to create powerful works, including acclaimed films like This Is Not a Film, Closed Curtain, and No Bears. His newest film, which won the Palme d’Or, centers on a mechanic who believes a new customer is the man who once tortured him. This compelling story explores the complexities of revenge and the possibility of finding peace, and is widely considered one of the best films of 2025 – a true masterpiece.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t
Ruben Fleischer, 112 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=-E3lMRx7HRQ
Nine years after the last installment, Now You See Me 2, this new sequel arrived to a lot of skepticism. Despite that, the Now You See Me films are surprisingly popular internationally – this one earned over $200 million! The original cast, including Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Lizzy Caplan, and Morgan Freeman, are back for another fun, magical adventure. If you’re looking for lighthearted entertainment during the post-holiday season, this might be just what you need, available for rental on demand.
The Running Man
Edgar Wright, 133 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=KD18ddeFuyM
The director of Baby Driver seems ideal for reimagining the 1980s film, based on a Stephen King story, about a deadly, high-stakes game show where the prize is immense wealth. The movie stars Glen Powell, William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Michael Cera, Colman Domingo, and Josh Brolin, but it didn’t perform well in theaters. Because action movies consistently do well for home rentals, this one could become popular with viewers at home. Get ready for the chase!
Sisu: Road to Revenge
Jalmari Helander, 89 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=VmStqCXIgio
Okay, so this movie? Seriously one of the best action flicks I’ve seen all year. It’s a sequel to this awesome, kinda underground hit from 2022, and they just took everything that was great about the first one and cranked it up to the max. They even added Richard Brake and Stephen Lang – talk about upping the intensity! Jorma Tommila is back as Aatami Korpi, this unbelievably skilled guy just trying to build a home for his family, but he’s constantly battling Nazis to do it. Honestly, it’s got this crazy, over-the-top energy, kind of like Mad Max: Fury Road, but totally its own thing. You absolutely need to check this one out.

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere
Scott Cooper, 119 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=oQXdM3J33No
Scott Cooper’s film tells the story of a difficult time in Bruce Springsteen’s life, when he was struggling to write his acclaimed album, Nebraska. Jeremy Allen White delivers a strong performance as Springsteen, but the movie is less about the music itself and more about his battles with depression and the pressures of fame. While it wasn’t a commercial success, fans of Springsteen and his songwriting will likely find it worthwhile.
