Rumors suggest that seven characters who have died in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and who all had connections to Thor, will make an appearance in the upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday.
Thor has experienced a devastating amount of loss throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s mourned the deaths of many close companions, including his original team, the Warriors Three, his father Odin, the loyal Heimdall, his mischievous brother Loki, and his former love, Jane Foster.
Which dead Thor characters will return in Avengers: Doomsday?
A new post on X by scooper MAJESTIC_ucm claims the seven characters who died will reappear in Avengers: Doomsday. The post details a scene where Thor, with Steve Rogers, Korg, and Valkyrie by his side, prays for assistance.
According to a source, a force from Valhalla will arrive, featuring characters like Lady Thor, the Warriors Three, Heimdall, and the original Loki. Odin will then instruct Thor to lead them into battle. This aligns with a previous report from another source claiming Thor will receive reinforcements from Valhalla.
It’s currently unknown where this scene fits into the timeline of Doomsday. Early reports suggest the film will feature Thor and Captain America on a mission to locate the Loki variant seen in Avengers: Endgame. This Loki eventually becomes the God of Stories and, by the end of Loki Season 2, is responsible for overseeing the entire MCU Multiverse.
It seems the Avengers will arrive at the Time Variance Authority too late – apparently, Doctor Doom has already killed everyone there, including the Loki variant. Some fans think this event might lead Thor to ask Odin for help from the warriors of Valhalla, but that’s just a guess right now.
Details about the plot of Avengers: Doomsday are still secret, but the movie will feature a team-up of the Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men to defeat Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. The story picks up 14 months after the events of the Thunderbolts* film.
Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely penned the script for the upcoming film, Doomsday, and Joe and Anthony Russo are directing. The movie is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, and will be part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
