Autumn is here, and the final summer movies are becoming available to rent on demand. It was a surprisingly good season for films, and now’s your chance to catch anything you missed. Whether you’re in the mood for a funny remake, a sequel you didn’t expect, or a scary thriller, there’s plenty to choose from this month. Be sure to check out *Splitsville*, a romantic comedy coming to VOD tomorrow – it might just have the best action scene of the year!

The Naked Gun
Dir. Akiva Schaffer, 85 minutes

Okay, so I absolutely loved this reboot! Liam Neeson is fantastic – he fully embraces the role as Frank Drebin’s son and honestly, it feels like a continuation of his *Taken* character, but played for laughs. His serious, no-nonsense delivery is hilarious! And Pamela Anderson is just perfect. Honestly, the movie works way better than it has any right to, and it’s a huge relief it clocks in under 90 minutes. It knows exactly what it is, gets in, makes you laugh, and doesn’t overstay its welcome. Thank goodness for comedies like that!
Nobody 2
Dir. Timo Tjahjanto, 89 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=-5X2pt95cIo
Fans of the surprise 2021 hit *Nobody* can now enjoy the sequel from the comfort of their homes. The original film reinvented Bob Odenkirk as an action star, playing a retired assassin forced back into action, much like *John Wick*. This time around, Hutch Mansell (Odenkirk) just wants a family vacation, but trouble finds him in the form of some unpleasant characters played by Colin Hanks and Sharon Stone. While the sequel isn’t quite as fresh as the first movie, it’s still worth watching for those who enjoyed the original.

Honey Don’t!
Dir. Ethan Coen, 89 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=Jzr6pHIZAI0
It’s debatable whether Ethan or Joel Coen is having more success since they started working on separate projects, but it’s clear they both produced better work when they collaborated. Ethan has taken a surprising turn, creating what he calls a series of quirky, low-budget films. His latest, *Drive-Away Dolls*, featuring Margaret Qualley alongside Aubrey Plaza, Chris Evans, and Charlie Day, received mixed reviews, but it has the potential to gain a following among viewers at home – and you might be one of them.
Weapons
Dir. Zach Cregger, 128 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=OpThntO9ixc
One of the year’s most talked-about and successful horror films is now available to watch at home. The premise is chilling: an entire class of children vanishes overnight. Director Zach Cregger, inspired by filmmakers like Paul Thomas Anderson and George Romero, has crafted a story that focuses on a teacher, brilliantly portrayed by Julia Garner, who finds herself unfairly targeted. This twisty, funny, and genuinely scary movie is a must-see for fans of the genre and is already being hailed as one of the best films of 2025.

Relay
Dir. David Mackenzie, 112 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=ywC__z5VgZM
Riz Ahmed delivers a strong performance as a negotiator who arranges deals between companies and people exposing wrongdoing, typically protecting the whistleblower’s identity using a low-tech communication method. When Sarah Grant (Lily James) steps forward to arrange a deal, the story takes some increasingly far-fetched turns, but Ahmed consistently elevates the thriller with his talent. He’s a reliably great actor.

Splitsville
Dir. Michael Angelo Covino, 104 minutes
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=VrdSQSLD63Q
Michael Covino, the creative force behind *The Climb*, teams up again with Kyle Marvin for a new romantic comedy. But it’s less about romance and more about how some guys struggle with growing up and handling relationships. The story follows Covino’s character whose life falls apart when his wife has an affair with his best friend (Marvin) shortly after he breaks up with his girlfriend (Adria Arjona). It’s a complicated situation that leads to plenty of chaotic, funny moments. With its playful physical comedy and excellent timing, this film stands out as one of the year’s best comedies.
