5 Wild Outlander: Blood of My Blood Fan Theories We Can’t Stop Thinking About

The show recently finished its first season on October 10th, and viewers are already buzzing with predictions about its future. With the eighth season of the original series planned for 2026, many fans believe the two shows might eventually connect.

The time travel element in *Outlander* allows for endless story potential, and viewers have come up with some incredible theories. But it’s clear that *Blood of My Blood* has successfully captured the same captivating spirit as the original series, and fans are eager for Season 2, hoping they won’t have to wait long. Good news: even before Season 1 premiered in August 2025, the show was renewed, and filming for the next season is already underway.

Julia and Henry’s Son Is Charles Stuart

Julia’s captor, master, and later husband, Simon Fraser, is a quick-tempered man who highly values the advice of his clairvoyant, Maisri. Viewers of the show *Outlander* might recall Maisri from Season 2, when Jamie and Claire meet her while visiting Lord Lovat. They also meet Simon’s son, also named Simon – the name Lord Lovat gives to his son with Julia. However, the baby seen on screen isn’t actually Lord Lovat’s biological child; it’s the son of Henry.

Considering the prophecy that Julia’s child would unite the clans and return a Stuart to the Scottish throne, it’s possible that child is actually Charles Stuart, who led the Jacobite uprising. The book *Blood of My Blood* ends without a clear resolution, leaving the audience wondering if Julia and her baby, William, manage to escape safely.

In the story, Julia might have found safety with those who supported the Jacobite cause, and her son could have been raised believing he was Charles Stuart. While *Outlander* features Simon Fraser as Lord Lovat’s oldest son, it’s possible Lord Lovat had another son, also named Simon.

Ned Gowan’s Lover Was Stolen By the Stones

While watching the Beltane fertility blessing, Ned Gowan and Henry share their memories of past loves. The ceremony serves as a poignant reminder of their personal losses. Beltane draws women to the ancient standing stones near Inverness, hoping for blessings – the same stones that hold significant meaning for Henry and Julia, as well as Claire, Brianna, and Roger in the story of *Outlander*.

For months, Ned has supported Henry in his search for Julia and watched him suffer. While sitting under the stars and observing the dancers, Ned reveals he also experienced heartbreaking loss in Edinburgh. He encourages Henry to find peace, suggesting he either give up the search for Julia or set a deadline for himself.

Ned and Henry met again at Braemar during the Earl of Mar’s yearly gathering. Henry had learned that Julia and their child were still alive, but in poor health, and asked Ned to help them escape. Ned understood the danger this posed for everyone involved, but shared that he too had once needed to flee unexpectedly. He hinted at a past heartbreak – a lost lover, possibly wrongly accused of her death, or even taken by the mysterious stones. This explained why Henry’s situation reminded Ned of his own painful history, a memory that surfaced during their conversation at Beltane.

Jamie’s Brother William Was Named in Honor of Julia’s Child

Julia marries Lord Lovat and has a child with him to provide for the baby and conceal its true parentage. Though Lord Lovat insists on naming the child Simon, Julia secretly baptizes him William Henry Beauchamp, honoring Henry’s grandfather. Brian Fraser, Lord Lovat’s illegitimate son, is aware of the situation and assists Julia in giving her son the name she wants. Disliking his father, Brian sees this as both an act of defiance and a generous gesture towards Julia, who has very limited control over her life.

Jamie’s father is Brian Fraser, and Brian, along with Jamie’s mother Ellen MacKenzie, raised five children total. These included Jenny, a significant character in *Outlander*, Robert, who sadly died at birth, and William, their eldest, who passed away at age 11 from smallpox. There are two possibilities regarding William’s origins: either Brian and Ellen named their first son William knowing about Julia and her child, or they adopted William and raised him as their own to protect him.

Throughout the story of *Outlander*, the name William holds special importance. Jamie Fraser’s illegitimate son is officially known as William Ransom, but Jamie secretly baptizes him as William James before leaving Helwater. This baby, born to Julia, has a surprising connection to Claire. Even if Claire never discovers the truth or meets him, the name William will continue to appear throughout the years and across different generations.

Jamie and Claire Will Cross Paths With Julia and Henry in Outlander Season 8

I was absolutely stunned at the end of the last season! Can you believe Faith, Claire and Jamie’s daughter, actually *lived*? After everything Claire went through with that terrible birth in Season 2, and spending years believing her baby had died, it was such a shock to learn she went on to have a family of her own with two daughters! And it’s crazy to remember Claire always thought her parents were gone too – it’s been a long, emotional journey for her!

Now that Claire knows her daughter is alive, the show’s writers might follow suit and have Claire and Jamie meet Julia and Henry. At the very least, they could discover evidence that Julia and Henry didn’t die in a car accident, but were also time travelers like Claire.

Evidence suggests Julia Beauchamp is a real person within the show’s universe. Every detail in *Outlander* seems to matter, and the camera specifically highlighted her name on the wedding guest list in Episode 7. Interestingly, Henry Beauchamp often signs letters as if he *is* Henry Grant. While Jamie and Claire haven’t met Julia and Henry yet, the show has established a pattern of characters being found alive after being presumed dead – most notably when Claire discovered Jamie survived Culloden in Season 3, Episode 5.

The Field of Thorns in Maisri’s Prophecy Are Barbed-Wire Trenches

Maisri’s prediction speaks of a ‘field of thorns,’ which likely holds a deeper meaning than just a thorny patch of land. The scene is charged with tension because Julia knows Lord Lovat isn’t her baby’s father. Maisri, as a seer, has both the ability and the power to reveal this secret, and she subtly does so.

Henry was a soldier in the brutal trench warfare of World War I, and he’s Julia’s child’s biological father. It’s possible Maisri is seeing visions of that child’s future, rather than Henry’s past. We already know that the ability to time travel through the stones seems to be inherited through family lines.

Claire’s family has a history of time travel. Both her parents, Julia and Henry, were travelers, and so is her daughter, Brianna, along with Brianna’s children, Jemmy and Mandy. Given this pattern, it’s likely Julia’s other child also travels through time, possibly even serving in World War II.
