After seven years on Disney+, Din Djarin and Grogu – the characters from The Mandalorian – will be appearing in a feature film, The Mandalorian & Grogu, scheduled for release in 2026. This is great news for Star Wars fans, and it makes me hopeful that some Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) heroes will also get their own big-screen adventures.
Lucasfilm’s new Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu, looks like a really enjoyable adventure, especially after The Rise of Skywalker. It features two beloved characters and seems designed to be a guaranteed hit. This makes us think about other heroes—here are five Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) characters with Disney+ shows who also deserve their own big-screen movies, just like The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Moon Knight
Casting Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight always felt a little unusual for Marvel Studios, especially since they chose to make it a streaming series instead of a big-screen movie. However, it’s important to remember that Disney was actively trying to create a lot of content for its new streaming platform at the time.
Moon Knight is a prime example of a Marvel hero who would really benefit from a bigger-budget, more visually impressive presentation. Plus, despite the first season ending on a major cliffhanger – introducing Jake Lockley and hinting at a darker side to Marc Spector and Steven Grant – there’s still no firm news about a second season being developed.
A Moon Knight film could really explore the character’s complicated mind, questionable choices, and the amazing world of Egyptian mythology he’s connected to. Moving forward with a movie instead of another season might allow for a more focused and well-paced story, giving the character the grand scope he deserves.
Hawkeye
The Disney+ series Hawkeye, featuring Clint Barton and Kate Bishop, was a success largely because of the great connection between the two characters. Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop eventually took on the role of Hawkeye from Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton. However, many believe a standalone movie focusing on Kate Bishop would be a stronger direction for the future than another season of the series.
Hailee Steinfeld has become a well-known star, and hints about Kate Bishop’s role in future Marvel projects, like The Marvels, suggest she could become a leader for a new wave of heroes. Considering this, Kate Bishop currently feels better suited for a big Marvel movie than a streaming show.
Scarlet Witch
Elizabeth Olsen’s portrayal of Wanda Maximoff has earned her a standalone film. The Disney+ series WandaVision was a unique and impactful addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, exploring Wanda’s emotional pain after the events of the Avengers films and showcasing her evolution into the Scarlet Witch.
Although Wanda Maximoff appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, her role as the main villain was divisive. The movie’s storyline didn’t quite connect with the events of her previous series on Disney+.
As a huge fan, I’ve been thinking about a solo Scarlet Witch movie, and it feels like the perfect way to really explore Wanda’s character and give her a proper redemption arc. It would be amazing to see her take center stage, instead of just being part of a bigger team or, let’s be honest, portrayed as a villain. Of course, they’d have to address how she’s still around after seemingly sacrificing herself at Mount Wundagore in Multiverse of Madness – some explanation for her survival is definitely needed!
As a huge Marvel fan, it really feels like they’re setting things up to bring Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, back. With her family gearing up to reunite after everything that happened in Agatha All Along and the upcoming Vision Quest series, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see her return soon.
Daredevil
Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again has quickly become one of their most popular and well-received new shows. After a strong first season in 2025, the second season is scheduled to premiere in April 2026, with a third season likely following in 2027.
The show has been great, continuing the story of Daredevil (Charlie Cox) from the Netflix series. It would be exciting to see Daredevil get his own movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Marvel is ready to give the character a proper conclusion.
Murdock’s brief appearance in the 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home excited fans and fueled demand for more Daredevil appearances. This demonstrates a clear interest in seeing the character take on a larger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe than he has before.
Similar to how The Mandalorian and Grogu are being released later this year, a Daredevil movie would feel like a logical next step and a thrilling new direction for the popular Marvel character.
She-Hulk
The main problem with She-Hulk wasn’t Tatiana Maslany’s performance as Jennifer Walters. Instead, the show’s structure – trying to fit legal comedy, superhero commentary, and character development into a limited number of short episodes – held it back. The visual effects also seemed to stretch the show’s budget.
Considering all of this, a She-Hulk movie could potentially address several issues at once. Alternatively, she could star alongside Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk – they clearly had great chemistry as cousins, even with Hulk’s limited screen time, and a team-up film could be really enjoyable.
With another Hulk movie possibly being made, many fans are hoping to see She-Hulk become a significant character in future films. This feels like a better direction for her than continuing the series with a second season on Disney+.
