5 big predictions for the Yellowstone Season 5 finale

As a longtime fan of the Yellowstone universe, I find myself deeply immersed in the latest speculations surrounding the upcoming events in the series. Having followed the characters’ lives and struggles for seasons now, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation as we approach the next chapter.

In just a short hop, we’re approaching the end of Yellowstone Season 5, and there’s much left to resolve – from various narratives, personal journeys of characters, to the very fate of the ranch itself.

In Taylor Sheridan’s well-known series, the final stretch of Season 5 has been filled with surprising losses and nerve-wracking advancements that have deeply affected the Dutton family. With their legendary ranch under threat and adversaries appearing from all sides, it seems as though they are tying up loose ends.

As a feature-length finale approaches, it’s highly likely that we’ll witness significant occurrences as the series reaches its conclusion. So, what could transpire next?

As a die-hard gaming enthusiast, I’m about to spill some insights on the final showdown of Yellowstone. Keep in mind that these are just educated guesses, but hey, who knows? We might strike gold with our predictions!

Prediction 1: Beth and Rip finish business and go to Texas

As a devoted fan, I’ve found myself over these last few episodes of Season 5, channeling my inner Beth: savoring drinks, nurturing the urge to take down Jamie, and standing firm for the Dutton dynasty. My time with Rip in Texas has sparked fresh thoughts: “Contemplate all the possibilities if we’re not tied down to that ranch,” I muse, drawing inspiration from lively discussions among locals about the deep-rooted admiration Texans have for their cowboys.

Given that the upcoming spinoff features the duo, it’s reasonable to assume they will both make it through, since it’s not titled “Beth and Reminiscences of Rip” spinoff.

It seems quite possible that the playful hint points towards a trip to Texas for both of them once the dust has settled on this entire season. As for Beth’s retaliation, there might be several directions the storyline takes as the season unfolds.

Based on her absolute confidence that Jamie was involved in John Dutton’s death, her chilling threat in Episode 10 that “seeing me will be the last thing you ever do alive,” and her repeated assertion in Episode 13 that she always keeps her promises, it appears she is strongly inclined towards seeking revenge.

Prediction 2: Jamie wiggles out of consequences, but not Beth’s wrath

In the final episode, Jamie finds himself in a precarious situation with few supporters around, as his adversaries close in. The revelation of Sarah’s involvement in ordering John Dutton’s assassination has led to the hitmen responsible for the deed being targeted, which in turn sparked an investigation into Jamie’s connection to Sarah and John’s death. These events culminate in Episode 13.

In Episode 9, it’s revealed through media outlets that Jamie’s relationship with Sarah and his prospective advantage from John’s land lease cancellation, as Governor, have been exposed (apparently an attempt by the assassins to conceal their tracks, as hinted in their conversation when Sarah hired them).

Jamie plans to pay a visit to his shrewdly politically-minded ex Christina, who suggests he takes the initiative: organize a press conference, lead an inquiry into John’s and Sarah’s demise, refute the affair but acknowledge their professional collaboration, and attribute Sarah’s death to her.

The ongoing investigation into John and Sarah is expected to intensify further, with additional pressure coming from Senator Perry who is grieving John’s death but now harbors suspicions towards Jamie. Under these circumstances, it seems unlikely that Jamie can endure his sister’s growing fury, and predictions suggest he may meet his end at her hands before she departs for new opportunities in Texas.

Prediction 3: Kayce and family may stay in their isolated home

Towards the latter part of Season 5, Kayce finds himself grappling once more with determining his role in the Dutton family’s legacy, even though he harbors this desire. From their newly settled home on the border of the Dutton property, Kayce has been juggling the demands of his family and the responsibilities of managing the ranch.

In Episode 11, Kayce confides in his Tribal Police ally Mo that he’s torn between his family and the Ranch, but Mo encourages him to trust himself to make the right choice when the time comes. Later on, a heartfelt talk with his son Tate leads Kayce to admit, “This place is no longer our home.

In a different turn of phrase, Kayce goes to confront John’s murderers to ensure that his family remains safe, and in Episode 13, he tells Monica, “If we depart from this location, I don’t want them tracking us.” Kayce is contemplating abandoning the Ranch, but he might still choose to leave, as Tate appears keen on preserving some link to his parents’ legacies. However, the family may opt to remain in their secluded new residence. For the Ranch, Kayce has a last plan in mind.

Prediction 4: The Ranch is saved by a heavily discounted sale

This year’s schemes appear to be leading towards the Dutton Ranch being sold. With Market Equities approaching the property, it seems the Duttons must sell the ranch in order to preserve it – the question remains how much and to whom they will sell it for. It’s a difficult situation.

Prediction 5: The Broken Rock Tribe restores the land, prophecy fulfilled

Over the years, Chief Rainwater has harbored a desire to revitalize the ancestral tribal grounds where the Dutton Ranch currently stands, occasionally leading to amicable yet tense interactions between him and John Dutton. In the 11th episode, Beth and Rainwater reaffirm their shared goal of thwarting potential development in a conversation, underscoring their united front.

Instead of saying “The latter explains…”, you could say “He goes on to share…” or “He further clarifies…

Kayce has always had close ties to Rainwater and the Broken Rock reservation, with Monica and Tate both being tribal descendants. If Kayce arranges a sale of the property (or most of it) at a hefty discount, much of the land would be preserved and returned to the Tribe, and the Ranch could be mostly preserved in some form. It’s an elegant win-win for all the series’ protagonists… and prefigured in the prequel 1883.

As Elsa, James Dutton’s daughter, nears her end, he swears that his family will reside wherever she is laid to rest. Spotted Eagle informs Dutton of a place where they can bury her and establish a homestead, which later becomes known as the Ranch. However, he also foretells, “In seven generations, my people will reclaim this land from you.” To this, Dutton responds, “In seven generations, it will be rightfully yours again.” Indeed, it appears that might just come to pass.
