Everyone loves a good movie night! We have a huge selection of films, covering everything from exciting thrillers to beautiful animated fantasy stories. But with so many great choices, deciding what to watch can sometimes be tough.
With so many movies available on Netflix, a few are really grabbing everyone’s attention right now. This week, four new films are quickly becoming some of the most popular choices – they’re perfect for your next movie night!
The Woman in Cabin 10
This Netflix film is based on the 2016 novel of the same name and stars Keira Knightley as Laura “Lo” Blacklock, a journalist whose life is turned upside down when she witnesses a murder. Trying to cope with the trauma, Lo takes on what seems like an easier assignment: covering a charity event on a luxurious yacht hosted by the wealthy Bullmer family. However, things become dangerous when Lo sees someone fall overboard during a possible struggle. When she reports it, there’s no evidence of the incident, and no one seems to acknowledge anyone ever stayed in the cabin where she believes the murder happened. Lo’s insistence that a crime occurred leads the other passengers to question her mental state, as they believe she’s still struggling with the previous trauma. The story follows Lo as she continues to investigate a possible murder that others insist never happened.
If you enjoy twisty psychological thrillers, especially those with narrators you can’t quite trust, you’ll likely love The Woman in Cabin 10. The movie keeps you guessing as you try to solve the mystery, but it adds an interesting twist: you might start to wonder if what’s happening is actually real. Keira Knightley gives a fantastic performance as Laura Blacklock, and you’ll be rooting for her to be right. The film also boasts a strong supporting cast, including Guy Pearce, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Hannah Waddingham, and others. If you enjoyed other mystery thrillers like The Woman in the Window or The Girl on the Train, The Woman in Cabin 10 is definitely worth checking out.
A House of Dynamite
Okay, let me tell you about A House of Dynamite, which is quickly becoming one of Netflix’s biggest hits. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, this political thriller had me on the edge of my seat. Rebecca Ferguson delivers a powerhouse performance as Captain Olivia Walker, a White House insider who finds herself in a terrifying situation when an ICBM is detected heading straight for the US. The film essentially takes place in real-time, following Walker as she tries to avert disaster and figure out who launched the missile and, crucially, why. And the cast? It’s enormous. Ferguson is fantastic, but she’s surrounded by heavy hitters, including Idris Elba as the President – it’s actually the second time this year he’s played a world leader, following his role as the British Prime Minister in Prime Video’s Heads of State. Seriously, the supporting cast reads like a who’s who of talent – Gabriel Basso, Greta Lee, Jared Harris, Anthony Ramos, and a whole lot more. It’s a gripping, intense ride.
As a movie buff who loves a good thriller, I was completely hooked by A House of Dynamite. It throws you right into a worst-case scenario – the kind of global disaster that really makes you think. If you’re into apocalyptic stories with lots of twists, you absolutely need to check this one out. It builds to a truly massive catastrophe, and the pacing keeps you on the edge of your seat. Plus, Rebecca Ferguson and Idris Elba are fantastic – they really deliver and show you why they’re so popular right now. Critics seem to agree too, giving it an impressive 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. Honestly, if you’re looking for a movie to get your adrenaline pumping for movie night, A House of Dynamite is one of the best originals Netflix has put out this year.
I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)
I Know What You Did Last Summer is a fresh take on the classic 1998 horror film with the same name. This fourth movie in the series follows a similar story: a group of friends accidentally cause a car crash that kills someone, and they cover it up. A year later, they start receiving threatening messages related to the accident. Soon, a mysterious person begins hunting them down, seemingly seeking revenge. Desperate to survive, Danica Richards (played by Madelyne Cline) and her friends turn to those who experienced a similar tragedy back in 1997 for help.
If you enjoyed the I Know What You Did Last Summer movies, you’ll definitely want to see the new installment! It brings back Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Brandy Norwood, and Jennifer Love Hewitt almost thirty years later, letting fans see what happened to their characters. While it might not be quite as good as the originals, it’s a great choice for horror and slasher movie fans. The 2025 reboot is packed with unexpected twists, plenty of gore, and hints at a larger story to come. Despite not being a critical favorite, the movie is quickly becoming popular with streaming audiences. If you didn’t get a chance to see it in theaters earlier this year, now’s the perfect time to check it out!
KPop Demon Hunters
If you’re looking for the movie everyone’s been talking about lately, check out KPop Demon Hunters. This animated film, now streaming on Netflix, is about three K-pop singers – Rumi, Mira, and Zoey – who secretly fight demons threatening the world. It’s a fun mix of musical numbers and action-packed fantasy, following the trio as they battle their toughest enemy yet, all while trying to stay on top of the charts against a competing group, the Saja Boys.
KPop Demon Hunters has quickly become this year’s biggest streaming success, topping Netflix charts since its release in June. Its popularity has continued to grow, especially after a recent limited theatrical run proved surprisingly successful at the box office. Netflix is already planning to build KPop Demon Hunters into a major franchise, and fans will have another chance to see it on the big screen – a sing-along version will return to theaters on October 31st.
